vc is not a slasher anymore. more of a jumpshooter now. and that with a very very bad contract...and btw: who would be our 2nd C?

Maybe replace Diop with Juwan Howard - his contract also expires what could be a plus for the nets!

hmmm. we would be too thin at C. No way Juwan can play C as well as Diop. And no way we'd count on Dampier to deliver full time against the other bigs in the West.
If replace Juwan, that would be something to consider. I haven't watched VC at all this season so I have no idea about his play.

Why would we need another soft superstar who chokes in the playoffs?

Well according to Mavs fans we need athleticism since you know, it wins titles.

I have been convinced that we need Damp, Diop, and Bass in order to get past West teams like the Lake Show, Phoenix, and San Antone in the playoffs.

I would love a decent SG that could shoot, but having the right Biggs in place is more important in the long run. If I were looking at a trade, it would be to improve our Biggs, not necessarily improve our SG position.

Plus, with Jones and Hassell we have two really good perimeter defenders that rotate out with one another. Stack can and does play some SG as well as Terry.

I am saying that it's best that the Mavs stand pat at this point. We still have the prime roster in the West and the league.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

NO!

Bynum/Gasol
Shaq/Amare
Chandler/West
Duncan/Oberto
Camby/Martin/Nene/Anthony
Pryzbilla/Aldridge
Okur/Boozer

Diop has a very important role on this team if we expect to make a title run. George can backup the 2-5 spots, thus, he is not a filler also. We drop our PG depth chart to 2 to push our SG depth to 5 (Carter, Stack, Jones, Hassell, Ager). The difference between Stackhouse and Carter is NOT worth all of that, much less a pick (2009 instead of 2008 at that) and salary cap handcuffs.

I have been saying since Kidd to Dallas was 1st rumored (months ago) that I would upgrade Stack to Carter (hence, Stack must be in the trade, which I was surprised to not even see listed) if the price was right. I think Dallas would not mind adding salary IF we did not lose out on talent.

The best offer I would do be a relief of $28 mil guaranteed salary:
Stackhouse + Hassell + maybe a 1st for Carter

That is the best I would do. I would not drop our depth at the 5, the 2 and SF to increase our depth at the SG to 5 at all. I would not even do this deal if it was Stack, George and Jones for Carter simply because of the salary cap handcuffs that the soft arse Carter would bring with him with his over 30, injury proned self.

Once again, same trade I've been saying for months: Stack + hassell for Carter or keep Carter out of Dallas.

MYTH - the only difference between VC this season and last season is he's taking 4 less shots a game. As a result he's averaging 4 less points per game.

His ankle got injured earlier this season and he's been having to take cortisone shots before every game just so he can stay in the lineup.

VC has had a few off years in the playoffs but has had a few insane ones also... just like Dirk. He's one of the most clutch players in the league and demands a double team on a nightly basis still.

I guess I wouldnt mind this trade, but it wouldnt kill me if the Mavs didnt make this move either... George and JET have been playing well lately and Diop is our only other center... Maybe if the Nets threw in Collins or Krstic, it would make it easier, but I doubt they would.

This trade would definately make an impact in the little "trend" that is going on now. I mean some of you are talking about Diop, from the games that I watched he's barely getting 10 min a game anymore. It not like he's some veteran that is going to bring their playoff experience tot he playoffs. Between Bass and Dampier I dont even see this guy any more. Yet i do agree that stack should be in that trade because we will be overloaded on wing players.

I don't want anything to do with VC and his contract. I prefer us to keep Jason over acquiring Vince and seeking better options for the present/future.

Except Diop, I like the deal but not as much as Artesr or Maggette. At least, we get more respect from the refs.

With a motivated Carter this move could really pay off. I'm kind of on the fence here though. I don't like Carter's contract or the fact that he settles for so many jumpers like other players on our team.
