With the acquisition of Kidd, we need Bass to play like this for us:

Bass needs to be like Kenyon Martin when Jason Kidd comes in.

Bass will NEVER be like Martin!

My ceiling for Bass is Udonis Haslem. That's all I can ask out of him and that's the most success I ever see him achieving. If he does that's a positive for us and for Bass as he'll stick around at the NBA level.

But he's not like that and never will be. That is not Bass's game. Not his talent. Not his physical ability. If you havent noticed, he misses more dunks than jumpshots. He's just not good at finishing plays.

That's a function of taking open jumpshots and forcing dunk attempts. That is, he misses more dunks because his dunks are more challenged than his jumpshots. Not unexpected from a rather inexperienced big man.

Regardless, when a PF has his athleticism and shooting touch at such a (relatively) young age, there's a lot of room to grow. If Dirk could teach him the fine art of the shot-fake, he could really take off (literally).

True, but you can NEVER say Bass' style is even close to Martin. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but they are no where near the same type of player!

I don't remember enough about K-Mart to make the comparison. I do recall Martin being an incredible defensive player, and Bass ain't anywhere close in that department.

You are right on that, but the part I was remembering was Martin being able to fly over everyone to make very acrobatic dunks and alley hopps. I'm not even sure Bass can 1) Jump 2) focus on the ball 3) Grab the ball 4) even touch the rim all withing the second it takes to complete an alley hoop. Martin was as good if not better than Marion and Amare in that department.
