So, if the Kidd deal does go through, who would change their number? I sure as hell don't want JHo to change his number.

^^ And he could be paid to change his number! He's young, has a smallish contract. He wouldn't mind an influx of a little extra cash!

I think this means we trade Josh for someone who doesn't wear #5.
Say, Ray Allen. He should fit Avery's sytem as he is 32yo. And that's not un-realistic. I mean, comon' its RAY ALLEN. Future hall of famer. Howard would be like Vince Young and Allen would be like Peyton Manning.

changing numbers has to be aproofed by the league (stern)
he did so with watson for webber in GS (making room for webers #4)
in josh howards case, its another story...he is way more popular than watson and a lot of kids own his replica...making him change the number would force them to buy a new one (ok, not force but to bribe)...there are also other rules to prevent teams from making easy money with such things: a third jersey-coulor can only be intruduced like every 2 years and so on!
that said: kidd has to change!
