Center options - Ratliff anyone?

Post#1 » by from_ro_to_dirk » Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:22 pm

How about Theo Ratliff in Minnesota? If he's healthy he'd be a perfect defensive back up for us. He makes an assload of money and is in the final year of his contract. One of you guys can figure out the options to bring him over here. I guess he'd have to be released right? Would the Twolves do that? Is there an incentive for them to do that? I guess they basically get out of paying him the rest of the year? Maybe they have high S&T trade hopes for him in the offseason. He's been injured but i *thought* he was due back now, i may be wrong.

Theres a slew of Sonics centers. I want Kurt Thomas, but they probably want to give up one of those other guys (sene, gelable, petro).

Booth in Philly i think.

Gadzuric or Voshkuhl from the Bucks

Justin Williams from Sac who was waived

Whatever happened to Tsakalidis?

I bet Shawn Bradley hasn't gotten fat.

Shawn Kemp might need more child support money.

Has there been ANY news of PJ Brown in the past 2 months? I mean is the guy waiting for the right team and actually want to play?

what bothers me is that half of the Nets team is PF/C and we couldnt really get one? Kristic, Magliore, Boone, Williams, Swift, Diop now. Could we not get one who is out of favor, like Magliore? he'd have been a nice back up here. id have done without Allen and Wright if thats what it took to get a backup C.

Also, too bad the Bibby trade didn't go down after the Kidd trade. maybe we could have gotten in on it and gotten Lue to be our backup.

People overrate Diop like crazy on the Mavs board, lets be honest, he isnt that good... We need a center who is as good as Diop at least, which shouldnt be too hard to find. Kurt Thomas seems like he could be traded for pretty cheap, not to mention we dont have a whole lot to give up aside from Juwan.

For a backup center we need a defender, a shot blocker, not necessarily a scorer. You know who would be perfect, Diop! OH yeah, we just traded him to New Jersey... Maybe we re-sign him in the offseason...

My choice is the Birdman, he could be with us for a while. He would do well with Jason the Kidd.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

NJ is going to have to waive some folks to fit everyone under the roster limit. I would not be surprised to see Magloire get waived and Dallas pursue him. It would be incredible if NJ waived Diop and Dallas could get him back in 30 days...
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.

now wouldn't that be a strange turn of events, getting Diop back...

I read they are keeping diop, and that he was as critical as Harris to this trade. Mavs need a beefy guy to push Duncan shaq, bynum, etc. I am not sure that PJ Brown is that man, nor anderson.

Fazekas!

Too bad they most likely will waive him to allow for the KVH S&T.

I hope they will resign him immediately. He is very promising. Would be a damn waste of a draftpick if they let him go. :nonono:
If they keep Juwan and don't resign Faz I'm going to be absolutely sick of this management.

Why will they cut faz? To lower the Tax amount? I am not getting why this would have to happen.

That's it right there.

Edit: I can't help but think that if the Mavs did not pick up his option for next year, Ager would have been waived instead. Now, Ager's salary next year + lux would be the consequense of keeping Fazekas.

Told you guys that was a bad move.

I think this might be the end for Magloire in NJ if they decide to keep Diop. It would be a risk for the Nets because Mags is not going to take a reduced buyout. However, if a team like Dallas picks him up then it reduces their payroll yet again.

When this goes official, there will be a serious game of musical chairs happening.

Kings fans have a lot of good things to say about Justin Williams. He'd be cheap so I think we should probably give him a look. Good rebounder, shot blocker, athletic, still has some potential.

I agree as well here's a 20 10 guy in the d league and we don't look at what he could do for us in the regular season. We know Howard is crap and old crap at that so I would say he is the one we would dump if cuban has any common sense left.
