Trade Challenge...

Post#1 » by DDansby123 » Mon Feb 18, 2008 8:55 pm

I don't have time to do a bunch of different trade scenarios, but here's what I'd like the Mavs to do...

(1) Find a backup C for Damp.
(2) Improve the SG spot.
(3) Get a little more athletic.

To me, with our limited small-salary guys now, the most likely to be dealt would be Terry. The only teams interested in JET, IMO, would be teams like Cleveland and maybe Miami.

If some of you could try to work out a three-team deal where the Mavs get rid of Terry and solve two of the three problems I mentioned, I think we'd be onto something.

For example, trade JET and filler (what little we have) for Ricky Davis and Nazr Mohammed (CHA), with JET going to Miami and expirings going to Charlotte. Just a jumping-off point...

I like that, but how has Thomas done against Duncan, Amare, etc. I know he has forced into C spot in NY. I think the SG Spares can handle the position.

Stack to LAC for Maggette

DAL gets Maggette at the 2
LAC buys out Stack on the cheap and waives him
30 days later Stack signs with DAL for vet min
and since DAL will have an open roster spot after the Kidd trade no one gets waived

Not trying to be pompous, but how are these guys at the C:

-Brad Miller (SAC is UNLOADING you know...)
-Rasho Nesterovic
My name is Taiyab, and I realize there is an intra-team conflict at the Point Guard spot.

Someone is going to have to be waived to do the Kidd trade as KVH would make the 16th player.

They make too much money. We've gutted our roster of tradeable players to get Kidd.

would anyone consider a trade of terry/bass/jones for artest and kenny thomas? it doesnt work espn's thing but if sacto sent some cash it would work.

not sure all of you'd like it b/c of giving up bass but you do get artest, the trade does work with mikki moore but i doubt they'd give him up.

Cash sent does not count in salary, so the bolded statment is completely false.

And hell no do we give up talent AND take back Kenny Thomas.

Yeah, Sac has no chance of dumping Thomas in an Artest deal. Bibby could only get expirings and he isn't a head case and 1-year rental like Artest.

this is the best i could think of...

dallas gives- JET, jones, stack, juwan, wright, allen
dallas gets- mike miller, nene, dixon

toronto gives- rasho, dixon
toronto gets- stack, jones, juwan

memphis gives- mike miller
memphis gets- rasho, antoine wright

denver gives- nene
denver gets- JET, malik allen

mavs..
C- dampier / nene
PF- dirk / bass
SF- howard / george
SG- miller / dixon
PG- kidd / barea

The Raptors need a centre...badly. Right now the front-court consists of Bosh and Bargnani...one of them is a 7'0 three-point shooting SF. The other one is a finesse PF.
My name is Taiyab, and I realize there is an intra-team conflict at the Point Guard spot.

thanks for that JES, i didnt know that...

but if you take both out from the deal, it still works on the trade checker as both guys just earn minimal....

there's an article from the chicago tribune that grizzlies owner Michael Heisley reportedly ordered the team to be stripped of any big contracts... and in this case, although rasho aint an expiring contract, he has one more season left.. and considering that they gave gasol away fro spare change, it isnt far fetched that they give away miller too....

Okay, if you want to get in it further, a Terry/AI backcourt would be one of the weakest defensive backcourts. I also think they would risk Nene coming back and we wouldn't.

Toronto doesn't do that either.

The best way to get Miller here would be:

Terry to Miami
Williams to memphis
Miller to Dallas

Kurt Thomas would be a nice addition if there was some way to work a trade with Seattle to get him... Eddy Curry and Ben Wallace are too high priced for us right now, but they would be good peices for our depleted center spot as well

JES, i doubt miami does that to tie themselves up with terry... just checked their board and they seem to be letting j-will and davis expire... their targeting at an elton brand signing in the offseason....

dirkforpres, ben wallace wouldnt just be a good piece, he would be a great piece! would probably start over dampier IMO.... besides, ben wallace's best years in detroit were the ones where he got good lobs and dishes from billlups... hinrich couldnt set him up under the basket in chicago.. and surprisingly, its what kidd could do.. although he's gonna cost a lot of dollars and i dont think we'd have enough trading pieces for him after the kidd trade...
