Avery tried to deal Dirk!!!

Post#1 » by arkuo » Tue Feb 19, 2008 2:31 pm

per hoopshype...

According to an infallible source, the Mavericks' coach pressed team owner Mark Cuban to deal Dirk after the NBA's MVP came up shamefully small against the Warriors in last season's upsetting first-round elimination, but was overruled. Johnson's ideal leader is supposed to offer positive guidance and counsel on and off the court, as well as in and out of church. That disqualifies Kidd. Still, one sphere of influence is better than none. Convinced a championship is otherwise beyond capture, Avery compromised his primary concern.

i dont know how this will affect dirk if he reads that his coach just pushed to trade him and its the owner that stuck by him.... i hope he comes back and plays the second half as motivated as ever to prove avery wrong....

I don't believe this infallible source. Sounds like they are fallible.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Just from hearing Avery speak I can imagine him saying that about Dirk.

He is not the same guy who took over for Nellie. He needs a humility check.

Like I said, the infallible source sounds fallible. No wonder he wanted to be kept anonymous, he knew no one would believe him if they knew who said it.

Move on, nothing to see here. People are scared of the Mavs and are now making up lies in order to degrade the organization from within...

Don't believe this.

The author is Peter Vecsey, who (a) has lots of "infallible" sources that are proven repeatedly to be full of crap, and (b) is well known to dislike the Mavs and write lies to cause turmoil if he can.

Peter Vescey absolutely hates Cuban and it is not even a stretch to believe that he made this up to cause problems on Cuban's team. Not that anyone on this team would give much thought to some idiotic report like this.

The only problem is Kidd, Allen, and Wright may not know this about Vescey. Well, he does write for the Post - nuff said.

I dont believe this at all... Dirk will be in Dallas even longer than Mark Cuban will be. Somebody is just trying to stir up some drama.

I don't know if this rumor is true but I thought it was obvious during the Golden State series that Avery was VERY disappointed in the lack of heart that Dirk showed. In some of the post game interviews Avery would speak so highly of how players like Baron Davis just wouldn't quit no matter what the Mavs threw at him. You could tell by the look on Avery's face that he knew Dirk did not have that same kind of toughness.

Thanks but no thanks for that junk.

Seriously Dirk may be soft, but lets give him some credit. He has kept this franchise at a very high level and he wasn't "soft" when he took us to the finals was he?

Geez, I'm all for ragging Dirk when he plays badly but the blame should go around. Dirk, Avery, the team failed in their failures. Who stepped up when Dirk was manhandled by 2-3 guys? Who changed their starting lineup to try to play mind games with Nellie?

The grass always look greener on the other side.
