Thoughts on JJ Barea from Mavs fans

Post#1 » by DorfonCeltics » Tue Feb 19, 2008 4:25 pm

Hi guys, Celtics fans here. I was just wondering from a Mavs fan standpoint, what your thoughts are on JJ Barea and what his role will be after the Kidd deal is finalized. Thanks!

I trust JJ! He's small, but full of heart, and I hope he sticks around. I believe we will continue to benefit from his services and speed. I hope he sees the court more and he should benefit from having Jason as a teammate.

I think he'll learn a trick or two from the man. But he's just too short, and because of that he will always be a defensive liability (although he plays hard) and his jump shot is even more shaky than Kidd's.

he's been good when he's gotten PT, the only game i saw him really press things was against phoenix last week it was like he was trying to impress nash and ended up looking like a crazy guy just dribbling around.

he's a pretty good defender i think given his size especially, when we played denver he kept iverson in front of him the possessions he guarded him and didnt get any fouls. good at taking charges too, o and the crowd loves him, good hustle player pretty much. o and his shot is a little flat i think needs more arc

JJ is a great backup, especially considering hes in his 2nd year in the league and went undrafted

He is good in limited stretches. He gets exposed if he gets to 15 or 20 minutes. His role will lessen given the time that Kidd plays.

That's fascinating....
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I've liked JJ from the moment they signed him. He was the only true PG on the roster till the Kidd trade. I don't think he will ever be a starter in the league, but he has the skills to be a quality bench player. I am hoping the presence of Kidd will aid in his development.
