DeSagana Diop Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by your_dallas_mavericks » Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:07 pm

I am going to miss the big guy. I know his cousin up here in Oklahoma City and he told me that Gana loved playing in Dallas. Maybe he re-signs with us in 2008. He's a solid rebounder offensive as well as total. He's a great defensive presence especially as a shot blocker. His hustle and desire to win on the court will be missed.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

He has been a needed piece of the best stretch in mavs history. He and Damp have been the best C combo ever in mavs history. He had a role and I think executed it well. I am sorry to see him go.

STAY HARD, GANA

Game 7 in San Antoinio. In overtime. Diop's defense shuts down Duncan.

Thanks Gana.

Yeah and its even more amazing when we take a step back to when he first arrived here. He was that big draft-bust from Cleveland who wasn't able to do anything at all. He quickly grew into his role and even had flashes of an offensive game this season. I think right now the gap left by him is worse than the one created by Devins departure.
Good luck Sagana!

I'm going to miss Diop and he always naturally entertained me. Maybe it was how goofy it was watching him run up and down the court. On the other hand he was full of heart and energy.

^^^ Cmavs, what did he do? Block one of your shots right back on your boney skull? I would be upset too if that was the case.

I remember how I rolled my eyes when they signed Gana, he sucked big time in CLE. But wow, did he prove me wrong. One of the best role players in recent Mavs history.

Diop proved us wrong and that's what makes it so hard for us to see him go...

I'll miss him, too. I still remember that gamewinning block on Melo like it was yesterday.
I'd like to see him back in a Mavs Uni in summer. But I guess he'll go for the big money and I also think he deserves a payday.

He likes Dallas, he might take a pay cut on a short contract to get the big payday down the road.
