Next move?

Obviously we need a big man and I know we still have the MLE to use if theres an attractive FA.

BUT since Wright ended up being included in the Kidd deal, we still have our trade execption.

What do we do?

Hoopshype says we traded our TE for Wright in a seperate deal... All we have is the MLE, and for whats out there big man wise, that leaves PJ Brown, who is worth the vet. minimum at this point now.

Marc Stein says Wright is included in the Kidd-deal so there's no sidedeal and we should still be in possesion of the TE.

Hopefully we can get Fazekas back, but I'm sure he will be picked up by some young team.

Atlanta needs to fill some roster spots. While the Hawks are very thin I still believe they go after Nick.

Only HMFFL would make that connection.

DMN says the deal includes our $1.6M trade exception.

Any way to get Lorenzen Wright from Sac? Would Cuban really Lux tax up and trade $3mm and 2nd for Wright and/or Lue?

This sucks though I think I understand why it was Fazekas and not Howard. It basically comes down to money and since Cuban is already getting shafted in terms of the money expenses on this deal he does not want to spend any more money.

It does seem odd that we are getting less people back in the deal than we are giving yet we still have to release someone to make it happen. So now we have two roster spots available after the deal.

I guess we just have to hope that he clears waivers however I doubt that will happen.

There's no one out there worth signing. Cuban said it himself that the Mavs will just wait for the other teams to release their veteran players like PJ Brown and TCU's Kurt Thomas.

I'd take either over Juwan.

Any chance of the Sonics buying out Thomas if they can't trade him?

Howard makes more than Fazekas.

Howard: $761,544...........Free Agent
Fazekas: $427,163.......non-guaranteed $711,517

It's the fact that Avery don't like anyone less than 27!

The owners of the Sonics have more money than er... Cuban. And they can easily buy out Thomas' contract in return for Cuban voting for the Sonics to move to OKC. Cuban had said he was against the move and would vote against it. By the way, the entire state of Oklahoma is the current market for the Mavs. If the Sonics moved in, it would eliminate a large market for Cuban. A non-basketball player deal will be made in order to help both parties.

See gentlemen, even politics makes it way into basketball sometimes.

What about a deal that would send:

Kenyon Martin to the Mavs
Ron Artest to the Nugs
Jason Terry to the Kings
and another $5mm range player to the Nugs

The Martin contract is scary but adding his skill set & attitude to the Mavs might be worth talking about. Plus, he's a hometown boy.

Why would we trade a starter for Kenyon Martin. Now that Harris is gone, I assure you that Terry will move into the starting line up.

^^Anyone else think Terry will significantly improve now that he is more free at the two spot with kidd having the point responsibilities? with our solid starting line up, I wouldn't mind seeing another move to strengthen our bench to add to Bass, Stackhouse, and Jones.

Absolutely. They are not going to look to trade Terry now that we have Kidd. Jason Terry should be a big beneficiary of Kidd's presence on the court. I think Terry will get more open looks then he was getting before. With Harris and Terry on the court together we had a big hole trying to cover the other teams SG. Now that Kidd can take the SG Terry can take the PG and we are fine.
