DA: No one feared the Mavs, but they do now

Post#1 » by ppp000 » Tue Feb 19, 2008 11:04 pm

Quote by Darrell Armstrong talking about how no one feared the Mavs after the last two playoff flameouts, reported on Dallas radio.

TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN.

We were the softies, chokers of the league. Kidd has always been known for his toughness and leadership so hopefully that rubs off and helps shed that image.

I think most fans are happy that Harris isn't here anymore because the guy is scary penetrating the defense.

I, for one, am happy not to face Harris in the playoffs.

Geez JES12 Im beginning to think your Devin's mother or something.

Can't give any credit to the Mavs org or Kidd or anyone besides Devin. Kidd's career and achievements are just flukes. Mavs are doomed to the lottery. Kidd sucks soooooooo bad. Harris is the best pg in the league. Will that make you drop your overly pesstimistic act?

No, but Harris of 2007-08 forward >>>>> Kidd of 2007-08 forward.

Plain and simple.

IF.....IIIIFFFF we make the playoffs, we are out in the 1st round.

This IS the biggest Mav trade blunder since trading Kidd the 1st time. We lost in this trade. Complete stupidity from the front office.

heres what i keep seeing:

fans think the mavs suck now that they lost harris and replaced him with kidd.

players, who actually play the game, know the teams, know what players can do, are very positive on the acquisition and say how the mavs are better.

hmmm...i think i'll believe the guys who actually play the game.

even yao said that devean george was his new favourite player (obviously a few days back), implying he didnt want kidd in dallas.

You're entitled to YOUR opinion, but you can drop the know-it-all act. When some of us other fans are moving on with the Mavs, you're high and mighty act is getting old. Truth is no one knows what will happen, but you make it sound like Harris is the second coming of Nash. I've never seen someone so attached like that.

It sounds like you're more of a Harris fan than a Mavs fan since apparantely the FO are idiots and the team is doomed (and the players must be idiots too since Dirk, jet and Stack all lobbied for this trade. Dirk especially as confirmed by Cuban at the press conference). Like I said in another thread, the Nets could always use another fan.

Two weeks ago, James said he thought being paired with Kidd would lead to a championship in Cleveland. But with Kidd likely going to Dallas, and Devin Harris going to Jersey, the Spurs seemed to feel better about their chances. In the past, Harris had burned the Spurs, including an 18-point, five-assist game earlier this season.

Maybe they would never say it to camera and microphones, but based on the locker room chatter, it sounded like the Spurs players would rather deal with Kidd instead of Harris at this point.

So? I can find articles from "experts" that say otherwise.

Look the point here is not so much of Kidd vs Devin, but more of the fact that in trying to make YOUR opinion, you come off on everyone else who has a slightly different opinion and act like you know everything. That is getting tired. But this is the last I'm going to say of it. RealGm isn't for those who are open minded.

Okay, if I come over too harsh, I appologize. You are right. Maybe I like Harris too much. Maybe I hate this trade too much. Maybe "I feel" like this is the worst trade and type as if "I know" it is the worst trade. Maybe I post too much. Maybe I should just stop posting, because at tis point, I really don't know if I can say anything posative about the Mavs anymore.

Not everything is black and white. You have many good points that I agree with, but on the flip side, you can't see any positives, which is fine as it is your opinion but you don't need to downgrade Kidd or the Mavs to do so.
Anyways, we're all the same boat, waiting to see how this whole thing plays out.

We lost that fast pace that Harris brought to the offense but in exchange we got more size and more strength

Harris: Speed, Youth, Defense
Kidd: Size, Strength, Aged, Experience

After choking in 2 years, I would want to get a shot right now too instead of waiting for Harris to fully bloom. Kidd is what, 6-5? All we can do is wait and see how this offense runs by kidd, vs. run by harris.

It's going to be interesting to see if Dallas actually improves with this deal. Harris used to blow by the Laker guards at will in the 4th quarter. I think now Terry will have to create a little more and get inside the paint. Kidd still attacks well off the fastbreak, but not in a halfcourt set.

I don't know.....

I think Dallas with J-Kidd will be bigger no matter how you measure it.
