Avery wanted Cuban to trade Dirk?

Because lack of leadership?
According to an infallible source, the Mavericks' coach pressed team owner Mark Cuban to deal Dirk after the NBA's MVP came up shamefully small against the Warriors in last season's upsetting first-round elimination, but was overruled.

Peter Vescey's ridiculous assertion that Avery asked me to trade Dirk. Even in the Nellie years where we discussed trading every other player on the roster, Dirk was never mentioned. There has never been a discussion of trading Dirk during my tenure, EVER. Vescey's source is an out and out liar.
The thing about dealing with the media in this business is that they thrive on rumors and get bored with reality.

Vecsey thinks he knows everything. This is like saying "We almost traded for Player X last summer". It is inane, and unneeded right now. He does hat Cuban, doesnt he?

He's like a Cat and a mouse (no pun intended). Where the Cat wants to kill the mouse so he can eat it, but first he wants to play with the mouse and play with it until he tires of it. Vescey is a sick puppy and he's playing with Cuban before he kills Cuban.
Just remember, hated franchises win league championships - except when Darth Stern is involved...
