If we lose in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs this year, you can blame Avery

well part of the reason the game got out of hand in the 4th when we still had a slim chance at coming back was b/c he had 4 guards and dirk out there, it led to a couple put backs and 3 pt. plays where damp could easily have gotten some of those rebounds

well i guess avery's not yet done with the experimenting... damn mad scientist... i wish at this late in the season, he would have figured something out so we could have a consistent lineup night in and night out.. but i guess he's excused coz he just got a new point guard.... hopefully he'll get the team together come playoff time...

That's when. The Mavs have employed once again a point guard known for getting his coach (Byron Scott who led his team to two straight finals - Nets) fired. By bringing Kidd in, we could lose Avery. Heads will butt and egos will definitely clash. It's a situation we need to look at.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Umm, hasn't pretty much everyone here said that Avery should take some of the blame for the loss against GSW and the up-and-down regular season we've had thusfar?

I agree DD, if you think about it - Avery's the most underblamed coach in the NBA!

Avery should take some flack for his duel with nelson last year, but since avery has been there you have had some of your best seasons. He is still consided a fairly new head coach and at some point the pieces on the court have to take the blame.

I gotta think that if the Mavs don't have a serious run in these playoffs, Avery's job is in jeapordy. Cuban has pushed all his chips into the next couple seasons. The arguement for trading Harris was (in part) that he still had a ways to go and by the time he figured it all out, Dirk and Josh may have been past their prime. Might that same arguement not be made in regards to Avery? If he gets outcoached again by a wiley vet coach, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cuban decide to go a different direction.

I'll start April 17th if the Mavs miss the playoffs. Right now they're only 2 games in front of GS.

They are so close to the #1 seed and they are so close to the lottery. At least the 2008 pick is protected... If they are going to tank it, this is the year! I expect to be attacked for that one so bring it on. It's the truth and everyone knows it. If we want a lottery pick (which would be like a top 4 pick any other year with this deep draft) tanking it would make sense.

Yup, 2.0 games from 9th place. Kidd better start kicking up his game. Good thing we have Mamphis (a guaranteed win) and Minny (which is close to guaranteed) next. Should be a good scrimmage for Kidd & the old mavs to mesh.

What is our protection on the picks?

There is no protection on the 2010 pick. There is only protection on the 2008 pick.

I think we are 2 game away from the lottery last time I checked, I could be wrong though...

I believe Avery deserves more blame than anyone gives him. When the mavericks loose he says the team didnt play well and when they win its we won,,,,If he was the owner, he would have pulled the coach for the blunders he has made, just like he pulls players for making mistakes. I guess I am saying if he was treated like he treats his players he would have been pulled a long time ago.
