8 Mavs could be Free Agents this summer!

Post#1 » by your_dallas_mavericks » Mon Mar 3, 2008 7:49 pm

PG/SG/SF/PF - Devean George - no chance of re-signing due to his agent
SG/SF - Eddie Jones (can opt out)
SG/SF - Antoine Wright
PF/C - Malik Allen
PF/C - Juwan Howard
PG - JJ Barea
C - Jamaal Magloire
PG - Tyronn Lue

This leaves:
Kidd
Terry/Stack
Howard
Dirk/Bass
Damp

We might be in a load of trouble in reloading anywhere from 6-8 players for next year with only a second rounder and very little FA money to spend...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

All of those are minimum (or near minimum) salary scrubs and if the Mavs don't wanna bring them back, there are 20 more just like them ready to take their place for the same money. Not to worry.

I sure am hoping that Kidd's reputation would get some players agreeing to less to come here.

Lue signing

I like the Lue signing; are there any more sources talking about the signing other than the Atlanta Journal blog?

I like the roster... seems like we're just a stopper away from great success... Howard trade?

I can honestly see Eddie Jones heading to LA or Boston this summer...At this point in his career, he's looking for a ring

Lue will go where the money is

Juwan Howard will probably consider retirement

JJ Burea will look for more playing time

J mag is likely done with the NBA...maybe Toronto wants him??

Mags is only 29, I doubt he's done with the NBA...

Mavs will have MLE, LLE, and vet mins. 2nd rounder, Reyshawn Terry. I think Barea will return. Wright could be a lower level signing. Magloire may resign.

Kidd/Barea
Terry/Stack/Wright
Howard/Terry/Wright
Dirk/Bass/Allen
Damp/Magloire/Allen

That would suit me. Maybe find another pg

LLE was used on Eddie Jones and can't be used on 2 consecutive years.

with kidd here, i could imagine maggette or artest signing here.
artest would be nice an i think he would change his character here with avery as a coach and the situation in dallas as a contender.
i think maggette is more likely

OK, so we could sign both Rayshawn Terry, Renaldo Seibutis, and our second round draft pick, or maybe even a first round draft pick (if we opt to have the pick) this summer. And make a run at Artest or Maggette and pre-arrange a Diop return to call it an offseason.

^^ If we don't make the playoffs, the pick is a lottery one and it is ours to keep. New Jersey ends up with it in 2011 or beyond...

are you willing to trade howard to jefferson? to get diop

howard plus fillers for jefferson plus diop

why nets do that?
to make devin happy btw rj is on the block every year

why dallas do that?
if they failed to get marrion(mavs best option as kidd running mate), jefferson is also perfect fit to kidd brand of play plus mavs will bring back diop (worse case scenario, nets will give swift instead of diop)

I wouldn't trad RJ for Howard , i don't like Howards style of play .

Also RJ is the only player in Jersey that opens his mouth when something isn't right .
Howard'S just not the guy NJ need .

Unless you sweeten the deal with something , and i don't know anything you have that would make the deal attractive enough .

Return to Dallas Mavericks
