This team is a joke

starting with the coach.
You're telling me, you can't get up for a home game for a desperately needed win?
You're telling me, as a supposed, self-proclaimed, "allstar" you can't give something to this team, hard times or not? (Talking to you Josh Howard)
This team is not going anywhere this year, this summer we need to fire Avery and trade Josh/Jet see what we can get for these inconsistent, one-dimensional jump shooters.

Avery and Howard need to go back to the way they were last year... I can barely stand to watch this team now

Can Antoine Wright add anything to this team? I think it's clear changes to the rotation need to be made.

These next 8 games will make or break the year imo. I'm trying to stay positive about our chances, but I find myself thinking about what we can do in the offseason more than anything.

I'm trying as well, but it is really, really hard.

You trade for Kidd but then sit him for long stretches and bitch about him not finding his shot? Well Avery, Kidd is not a scorer and if you wanted a scoring pg why didn't you keep Devin? Kidd is here to run the offense but of course we have the same crappy ISO that lost us in the playoffs?
I just knew it would take only a short time before Avery started to over control the team again and thus make the trade useless.
And now the players are tuning him out.
Avery is an idiot, plain and simple. If I were Dirk I would ask to be traded this offseason.

Houston...
only 5 turnovers and 54% shooting (10% better than the Mavs)
We need better defensive players...
Should be an all out Howard for Marion attempt this summer as Howard is no longer a defensive player
I posted this same thing on the game thread, but it has beome a FGump vs Pootie thread.

We clearly are not playing to our potential, but you failed to mention that we just played the hottest NBA team right now, and I see no reason why we need to move Josh Howard. Too drastic!

Howard has been shooting around 30 something % since the trade. He has a lot of excuses but his poor play has cost us many games since then.
If you're happy to find excuses after every loss then be my guest. All I'm seeing is "coming close" and a team and coach that have no identity and are not on the same page.
To me, that calls for drastic measures this offseason. And if Josh doesn't pick up his game, I don't see why he will not be traded. He is becoming a jumpshooting Finley by the minute.

yet another excuse...
2006...refs
2007..matchups...Don Nelson
before Kidd this year...we are not good passers, we are experimenting with lineups, we are pacing ourselves...
Kidd trade-----> WAY MORE DRASTIC than moving Howard
Hornets...should be pumped up for the change, but turns out...Kidd too new to the team
Spurs...time to show that the Hornets game was a fluke...nope, the super old Spurs hand it to the Mavs...excuse: best team in the west..on the road
Lakers:....read the Spurs except change "Hornets game" to "Hornets and Spurs game"
Utah...time to win against a middle of the pack Utah team...excuse..best home team in the league
Houston...Without Yao..AT HOME..excuse: hottest team in the league
Bunch of BS
I have seen way more Kidd excuses than I have Harris excuses, yet some (and you know who you are) say that I am making one Harris excuse after another. That's a crap load of the same BS. Stop making excuses for this team.
Harris = not the problem
Kidd = noth the problem
Avery = the problem
If Avery stays, Howard, Terry & Stack need to go so that Avery does not use them

Well we all knew the problems that needed to be fixed last offseason. Jerry Stackhouse is getting old. Jason Terry needed to go. Devin Harris wasnt the problem. We had plenty of chances to make the moves, but Avery was too obsessed with JET/STACK that such obvious moves werent going to happen.
Now we have traded the only young bright spot we had in Harris and look like a disfunctional time. Yes time, we know there is, but Ive heard that 2 weeks ago and things havent gotten better.
Thats probably because it wasnt Avery's decision. I bet it was Mark Cuban's and he wanted to keep up with the powers in the West (Gasol, Shaq). Problem is no one else was offering something like Harris, and yet we give that up plus more. I think Avery liked where Devin was going and liked even more that he could controll Devin to an extent in terms of play calling and such. With Kidd, Avery cant do that.

it is very obvious. It is not the team. We keep trading and tinkering..... It is the coach. We trade for Kidd to run the offense yet Avery is still running the offense from the sideline. Avery-try a game where Kidd runs the offense, couldn't be any worse than tonight.

More like Avery is too much of a control freak to hand over the reins to Kidd. At least we can see what we traded for, can't be worse than all this losing right now?
That's problem with Avery and the main problem with this team: they don't fit!!! Avery wants Dirk to be Duncan, wants Stack to be Barry, wants Terry to be Ginobli off the bench...he never utilizes our player's strenghts, always harping on expanding and changing their games. How about Avery changes his gameplan for the players strenghts? Which isn't, has NEVER been, and will NEVER be his same ISO offense.

I dont even think its all Avery. The team pre-Kidd trade, wasnt right either. There is no need for both Stackhouse and Terry off the bench.
We stille havent addressed out SG position that we have been searching for it seems like for 3 years now. We still havent found an inside presence that can score inside and play small ball center effectively. Those were the two obvious needs. Bass has been good, but he's not the answer. If we had of answered those problems, we have a damn good team right now. Instead we have questions about our 2nd best player, our coach, and our chance at a championship.

The excuses ran out tonight as far as I'm concerned and my patience as a fan has ran out as well...I'm sure that it is showing in my posts and responses. This team looks dead and I don't think Dirk would have made that much of a difference.
Unless there is some type of miraculous turnaround, this team is going nowhere.
I hate to admit it, but I'd almost rather not make the POs this season than go in as the 7th or 8th seed playing like this.

Damn.....and I thought the Jazz board was bad.
I have to admit, I thought the worst move of the season that any team made (except for the Gasol give away, of course) was you guys giving up all that in return for JK. I mean, seriously, since when do aging superstars on bad teams net a young up and coming PG with possible All Star potential, plus two first rounders with little or no protection.....not to mention giving up 10m+ extra dollars to put the trade back together after it fell apart multiple times?
I feel you guys' pain. Isn't it amazing how you can go from "possibly one of the best teams All-Time" (Mar 07) to "This team is a joke" (Mar 08) in seemingly the blink of an eye? At this time last year, I was wondering if you guys were setting up shop for multiple championship runs over the next 3 or 4 years, and now.......well, this thread tells the whole story.
I feel as bad for you guys as I possibly could for a team on its way to its 6th or 7th consecutive 50 win season and a top 10 player in the league in the midst of his prime.
