Offseason 4-way Idea

here's something that should happen...

if avery thinks that getting guard stoppers isnt a need right now and going "offense" all night could get the mavs through the tunnel, this is the way to go... if you can beat him, might as well join him....

dallas gives- josh, JET, bass, stack, george, wright
dallas gets- carter, jefferson

portland gives- lafrentz (expiring)
portland gets- JET, wright, george

indy gives- foster (expiring), williams
indy gets- stack, bass

new jersey gives- carter, jefferson
new jersey gets- josh, williams, lafrentz (expiring), foster (expiring)

new mavs starting 5...
C- dampier
PF- dirk
SF- jefferson
SG- carter
PG- kidd

if all things would fail, then we get kidd's running mates here... it would be funny how NJ would immediately be under the cap (i think) with 2 monster expiring contracts and still have devin and josh....

one thing ugly would be the bench... but at least it's better than what we have right now...

I dont like that at all. Jefferson is just as badd at jumpshooting as Howard is and plays even less defense.

Carter is good and an upgrade, but has a huge contract,

If they would do Terry & Jones for Carter (in a 3-way, of course), I'm all for it, but that where I draw the line.

Edit: after looking at next years salary, a Carter + Hassell for Terry + Stack is more likely. I still think Terry would have to go somewhere in a 3-way, though.

I still think Stack and George (S&T) for Carter would be a good off season move. Then, Terry and Howard for Marion.

Kidd/Lue/Barea
Carter/Wright/Jones
Marion/Bass/R. Terry
Dirk/Allen
Damp/MLE signee

George would probably agree because he would get some big bucks to make that happen.

I don't think Lue, Wright or Allen will be back next year.

All three would help this basketball team very well...

So what you are saying is you want our old team to get even older?

How exactly do they get younger with huge contracts and old players?

Trade for draft picks, use MLE on young talent.

I think it would be difficult to get any decent draft picks unless we are willing to part with Howard or Dirk. Bass is about the only other one that might get us a first rounder.

We really don't have any trade pieces to better this team in the off season. S&Ts are about all that we have and that won't get us much.

Howard for Marion does make us older but better defensively and better chemistry with Kidd imo.

I say improve the team for now no matter what because we don't have much to look forward to in 3 years anyway.
