The Rockets signed former Rice forward and fan favorite Mike Harris, who impressed in training camp this season, to a 10-day contract, releasing guard Gerald Green to make room on the roster for Harris.

Waive Juwan. Sign Green. He can catch lob passes from Kidd all night long and will attack the rim. Worth a shot at this point.

Go get him! He's just what we need. Young and athletic as f**k.
But oh well...i forgot Avery is coaching this team. Young and athletic only works with Brandon Bass. :banghead:

From a Wolves fan who is on your playoff bandwagon, avoid Green like the plague. He was at the end of even our bench for a reason.

I think he would fit well if there was a cupcake on the rim each possesion.

I would like Green to come to Dallas... We need some youth more than any team out there, not to mention athletes

Wright > Green

If we have to sign Green to justify waiving Juwan though I'm all for it.

And here I was thinking that this thread was filled with "good thing we didn't sign/trade for this bust" posts but alas, I underestimated the Mavs fans' wanton silliness and unwavering hard-on for athletic deadweight. This guy is so bad I won't even consider waiving Juwan Howard for him.

This guy is a waste of time. People are desperate if you really want him on your team.

To those who have seen Green play (because I have seen very little) ...

There is no doubt this guy has a ton of athleticism. But what is it he is missing? Why do teams get rid of him in spite of his youth and athletic ability? Please tell us what you have actually seen you think signals him as one to be avoided, rather than giving a generic "he sucks."

Thanks

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't this guy score something like 30 pts against us last year when he was with Boston.

I'd say that we should at least take a chance on him. Avery has done a pretty good job with other teams' scraps (Diop and Bass).

he wouldn't be eligible for our playoff roster since he was waived too late

Gerald Green reminds me of Cassidy from the adult comic Preacher. He was a vampire who had super strength, speed and agility who ultimately got his ass kicked real bad by his scrawny bestfriend who knew how to fight.

"You know your problem? You got the strength, and the speed, but you don't know how to -- PUT THEM TOGETHER DON'T YOU? The things you are, the advantages it gives you, you didn't earn it and you didn't learn it. You never had to, hell, why should you learn how to fight when you're strong as a goddamn ox?"

It parallels Green's story as a player in that he never cared to work on his game thinking that a guy who can run and dunk is all that, and he was content sitting on the fact that his coaches hate him and maybe he'll find time on another team instead of realizing that maybe the problem is him.

You have to understand that there are like 7,000 players in the world that have athleticism dropping out of their ears; you're looking for the one that can actually play.

  • Good dunker... but doesn't have the explosiveness to make something good out of it. Notice that his highlight reel dunks are totally undefended.
  • Zero hoops IQ, and I mean zero.
  • Not a good ballhandler.
  • Can't create his own shot.
  • Doesn't play defense.
  • Bad attitude.
  • Physically weak.
  • Afraid of the paint.

Rodney White had a triple double against us.

Yes, because they have what we needed.

When Diop left Cleveland he was an outstanding shotblocker and defender who was fat, lazy and out-of-shape while the knock on Bass is that he was too much of a scorer -- that's exactly what they're doing/did here.

I say get him asap, and get rid of Juwan. Everyone is talking about how old we are, well Green can be our "1st Rounder" this season. At 22 years old its not too late to give a complete change around.

Knowing how that might not say much since its on HS kids but still he doesn't flat out suck. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he atleast getting chances in Boston and making use of them? He could be another Bass. Develop him, he has the size and the athletic ability. Playing with Kidd will make him that much better.

You have to be willing to change... and that's a lot to expect from a guy with such poor work ethic and intellect. Most players, they treat demotion as an inspiration/message to work harder - this guy mopes and has a primadonna mindset.

The thing with highlight reels is that it's exactly what it is -- highlights. Sean Banks has one, Tamar Slay has one, and oh yeah, Moe Ager has one and they all have one thing in common -- they suck. But to Ager's credit, he's at least a good, coachable guy who knows he has to put a lot of work. You can't say the same for Green.

No point in bringing someone in who can't be on a playoff roster due to when he was cut...
