Marion "intrigued" by Dallas

Heat forward Shawn Marion, who played with Kidd for two seasons in Phoenix, said intrigue about how Kidd is meshing with the Mavericks led him to watch a couple recent Dallas games.

''They're an interesting team,'' Marion said. ``I can't get a good solid read on them right now.''

If we can sign him for the MLE and put up a package to get Kaman and pair the German twin towers, I'll lose it.

Wishful thinking but I'm bored, so bear with me.

Like most sports fans, he is interested in how the Mavs are doing after the trade...maybe Im dense, but I don't see where he even implies he's interested in the Mavs.

I'd rather go for Kaman than Marion. Kaman would be a dream on this team.

Altogether different scenario (although I know you know that 8) )

He's turning into a heck of a player, but he wouldn't be as good here, and he would cost too much in a trade. His numbers would go down here, because we don't use centers in our offense that much, and we're a pretty good rebounding team already.

Dallas isn't exactly a team that centers are dying to play for, anyway, so he probably wouldn't want to come here. They don't get much attention and much appreciation. Just do the dirty work and draw your check.

He wants to get paid, given he felt 'unwanted' and 'underappreciated' in Phoenix.

I don't see him optiong out of his $17M deal to play for the MLE.

agreed, DAL has no shot at Marion unless we want to S&T Howard...

And, that would be a grave mistake on Dallas' part, but we'll help you with that if you want. :D

how about if we S&T Juwan Howard?

Marion wants the monies, he made that pretty clear in Phoenix.

Kaman? The only chance we'd have had was after last season and before the Brand injury. He had a 'disappointing' year last year (10.1 pts, 7.8 rbs, 1.6 blks). Yah, i'll take that kind of disappointment every year.

Kaman and Marion would both be too expensive even if we did have a way of getting them here.

Think he was talking about S&T Juwan as Josh needs no S&T.

I would, however, still do a Howard + Stack for Marion trade.

You know 2007, Marion would make this team older which it doesn't need to be. Let's face it, Howard is the perfect compliment to Dirk and Kidd at this point and probably for a while... Howard is going to be fine with Kidd just as nearly everyone else is going to be...

Howard is the highest tradeable asset DAL has
if he is to be traded along with a piece from the 2nd tier (Stack/JET/Damp) it HAS to be a blockbuster that brings an all-star calibre SG, SF or C

I'm not sure I would include Marion on the top of that list - I worry that his value was enhanced by the PHX system...

Agreed, and I think it would have to be a SG/SF coming back or we have no quality players there. Too bad we couldn't get Kobe....

You couldn't get Kobe with Howard (a 1st quarter, offense only, person) and a "2nd tier (Stack/JET/Damp)"

At least Marion would 1) Benefit from a PG like Kidd, 2) Play defense unlike Howard who no longer does, 3) Can play defense on multiple positions, 4) supurb rebounder and shot blocker for a SF/PF 5) Plays all quarters.

2007, if you weren't a contrarian - you'd be dead. You're all right with me. My kid sister turns 30 this week. I guess with that logic in hand, I can still call ya kid...
