I say we go 7-0 and clinch the 5th seed

Post#1 » by your_dallas_mavericks » Thu Apr 3, 2008 2:16 pm

With last night's win and the way we played, I believe with Houston's free fall and such that we will end up in the 5th seed and HOSTING Utah in the 1st round... Am I nuts, or do you agree that it's possible?

Edit: Change title and body of post
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I am not banking on it, but 5-2 would be fine with me, 6-1 would be great, and 7-0 would be amazing. Call ME crazy, but id rather face San Antonio in the first round than Utah. It always just seems like Dallas can beat San Antonio in games.

I say lets beat the Lakers with Gasol first.

Exactly. I'm curious to see how it turns out and how well we can play before the playoffs (if we make it). This team really needs to come together and win for themselves. I feel some of these players have been spoiled over the years and this year has truly been a test for many of them.

I agree, Friday is the test. And, it's not if we win, but how we win. If we can come out again with a Kidd-driven offense and not an Avery-ran-into-the-ground ISO, then it will be even sweeter of a success. Is Bynum back, because he's more vital in my opinon than Gasol is.

Next year Bynum will be the important factor, given his injury and age I dont see him coming back and making a huge impact like he was ealier in the season. Gasol is what teams need to focus on right now.

Ultimately if the road goes through LA you would rather face them early than after they have a chance to gel in the playoffs with players coming back that have not played together so that you could take advantage of the chaos.

San Antonio doesn't scare me as much as LA but LA is in disaray with too mnay new players and injuries. Fisher Gasol and Bynum all banged up = an easier way to rid yourself of the big dogs with a lucky knockout punch in the first round.

Phoenix is looking better than the spurts to me and I think we are better than them but home field would be an issue there. Against Utah we might be able to gain the home court advantage in the first round if we can win and pass Houston. This of course would be the best route to take as the 2nd round would be us and either NO or whoever they face.

I don't care who we face, I just hope we keep playing like we did against golden state on into the playoffs. If we do that we'll have a chance to beat anyone.

We got 51 wins and in disarray ? Yeah we have injuries but it's only Trevor, Drew is coming back soon and is doing very well in strengthening his knee. No team at this point in the season is totally healthy anyway, and every team is one injury away from being complete garbage.

Well put. You can rely on players being hurt on other teams. Especially when they still have number 24 on the court. Dirk is hurt but played well as we saw the other night. The same could go for Gasol. Bynum could play just as well too. So dont settle and rely on hurt players.

why are we so confident after one good game? We suck on the road all season, and realistically, will drop the next two on the road against Lakers and Suns.

I would love to be wrong, but this team has been way too inconsistent to allow me to have any hope of them going 7-0.

I don't think he meant the team has been in a disarray the whole year, and we didnt win 51 games this past week, we lost at home to Charlotte and Memphis. Also learning Fisher is hurt, Gasol making his way back, Bynum still out, Ariza still out and Kobe's finger. Disarray isn't the correct word but we don't look good.

Okay folks, we lost one to the Fakers - but we did beat the Suns and the last five look extremely winnable. Let's say we win out. That puts us at 6-1 on the last 7 but quite cemented at the 7th seed. That's okay... We've made a turn and we're about to upset whoever ends up at the 2nd seed...

At least win both Seattle games and Portland.

Utah and New Orleans would be gravy.

Mavs will play LA or Utah. I'd prefer Utah. They're terrible on the road. Plus, Kidd can stay with Deron Williams better than Kobe.

2007, Utah plays worse than we do on the road. We win vs. Utah. New Orleans we win even if they don't rest their starters. We have their number in the AAC. They haven't won in the AAC I think since they called Charlotte home... I may be mistaken...
