Let's play Coach/GM

In up to 10 bullet points, describe what to do in order to win a championship this year with this team. I have my own thoughts and I am sure JES12 has about 137 of them but let's keep them down to ten. The only rule is that we don't fire anyone. Just influence or instruct so to speak...

    1. Bench Eddie Jones, JJ Barea, and Jamal Magloire; that's who shouldn't be playing during the playoffs.
    2. Limit the time Bass plays at backup C and use Malik Allen/Juwan Howard instead in small doses.
    3. Use only Tyronn Lue as the backup PG, don't play Terry there at all.
    4. Limit the use of ISOs and let Kidd do his thing.
    5. Play Wright as a perimeter defender now and find out his overall game.
    6. Rest Dirk and his ankle with big leads to preserve him for the playoffs.
    7. Bring Stack back now, and re-integrate him before the playoffs.
    8. Keep Avery from overthinking every situation especially against Nellie and Pop!
    9. Keep Howard shooting in the lane and limit his outside shots.
    10. and finally, Keep Damp in the game because we want to win it!

shhhh hahah

well for one, play bass more. ESPECIALLY against athletic teams, (Den, GSW, PHO) he kills them always.

Make josh play to his defensive potential
Make josh a slasher again
Work in a motion offense
ect

1) Front court roation of Dampier/Dirk at C and Dirk/Bass at PF with Allen/Howard only in emergency (Dampier having 2 fouls in the 1st quarter is not an emergency...that's when Dirk to play C and Bass to play PF)

2) Kidd to play 38+ min.

3) Unlike YDM, I think Terry can play PG for 10 min or less. I have liked him more than Lue over the last 3 games. And at times, our offense looks better with Terry than Kidd. And our offense looks worst with Lue.

4) Howard needs to stop settling for jumpshots against the good teams.

5) Terry needs to shoot whenever he is open.

I love the simplicity of dfp's post. It speaks volumes...

1) Play only Kidd, Howard, Dirk, Terry, Stackhouse, Bass, Dampier, and one stopper when needed (George for forwards, Jones or Wright preferably Wright for guards). Thats it.

2)Run, run, run, run

3) Double team Kobe and TMac in the fourth quarter with a guard

4)If his name isn't Dirk, don't let him shoot you into a loss. That goes double for scrubs like George and Jones.

5)Run, run, run, run run

6)Tell Kidd to drive when his shots aren't falling and they leave him open.

7)Always have a seven footer in the game

8)Tell Terry to pass the ball when he is point guard and not dribble till there are 10 seconds left

9)Don't involve Howard in any clutch time play

10)Run, run, run

dfn, your post speaks volumes too...

By the way, I need to run, run, run...

Wow, what subliminal messaging!

good plan dfn, one defensive presence besides damp, that should work well, and having terry play significant minutes speaks volumes of how unsuccessful that team will be.

He only plays significant minutes if his shots are falling or did you not read #4

in the rare instance his shots are falling, it doesnt make up for his defensive shortcomings, the guy he's guarding will outscore him, and JET is useless in all other facets as well.

One of the best things about JES12 and me is that we tend to compliment each other's ideas. Between the two of us we come up with some interesting stuff...

JES12 wrote:1) Front court roation of Dampier/Dirk at C and Dirk/Bass at PF with Allen/Howard only in emergency (Dampier having 2 fouls in the 1st quarter is not an emergency...that's when Dirk to play C and Bass to play PF)
agreed

2) Kidd to play 38+ min.
agreed

3) Unlike YDM, I think Terry can play PG for 10 min or less. I have liked him more than Lue over the last 3 games. And at times, our offense looks better with Terry than Kidd. And our offense looks worst with Lue.
Upon further review, I realize that Lue may not have the offense down (whatever the offense is these days ) and Terry may be better suited to run the offense for short time periods not including end of halves.

4) Howard needs to stop settling for jumpshots against the good teams.
Against any teams, not just the good ones. But, a shot in the lane I do not consider to be a jumpshot. A baseline shot I do.

5) Terry needs to shoot whenever he is open.
Just Catch And Shoot. That should be his new motto.

Terry hasn't been outscored in the last four games.
