Mavs go for 50 wins and a playoff spot tonight!

Pending a victory against the Jazz
and Denver defeating Golden State
We would end up with 50 wins and a playoff berth.
We would be up on Golden State by 3 games with 3 left and having the tiebreaker (3 games to 1).
Denver nor Golden State would have a playoff berth in this scenario nor would either one of them be eliminated from the playoffs.

ahha thats crazy, so their playoff berth would be decided by winning percentage..is that right ?

A Dallas win pretty much guarantees a playoff birth regardless of who wins the Denver/Golden State Warrior game. If Denver wins, we clinch tonight. If Golden State wins, Dallas just nees 1 more Dallas win, 1 more GSW loss or 1 more Denver loss, meaning only 1 on 9 games have to go our way.

No, you're wrong JES12. Check the numbers. Check the games left. Check the tiebreakers. I love ya kid, but you're wrong on this one. I thought long and hard before I posted this. Don't be contrary or correcting just to be so. Come on kid, work with me here!
Go Mavs!

Done and Done, we're in!
Also, 8th consecutive 50+ win season? Or is it 7th? Still, pretty darn good!

My numbers were correct. What are you talking about, YDM?
We clinched with the Denver win...no argument there. But if Warriors won tonight (and the Mavs still wining) then we would only need 1 (of 3) more win OR 1 (of 3) more Warrior loss OR 1 (of 3) more Denver loss, thus only 1 of 9 games needed to go our way (like I said).
I was not wrong; I have a whole spreadsheet of playoff matchups, odds, highest possible seed, lowest poss seed, highest poss draft pick, lowest poss draft pick for every team. I keep one after the all-star break every year.

You are thorough, I will give you that. I know who to come to if I need particular stats in the future... I stand corrected. I just had to try though!

You still da JES12!

How's Josh Howard's injury? I'm more concerned on that one. He's the key to great defense and rebound. It's especially important versus the wild western teams.

Josh is the everything man, he just does a little bit of everything. Without him we are stuck with George. But George is in a contract year and could really do a lot to improve his stock. It's a wait and see. We have three games left. OKC/Portland (B2B) and then after a few days New Orleans.

I come to the forum tonight humbly. I predicted that the Mavs would not make the playoffs, and here they are.
I normally hate being wrong, but I can live with this one.

Daddy, you may know best - but this time you were thankfully wrong. We're all wrong some of the time. It's when we can feel good about it is when we are lucky.
