a look at what we have

Assuming that we lose this series (even though i'm not quite ready to give up yet), change obviously needs to happen. Unlike a lot of you, I believe that we don't have to completely blow up the roster.

Dirk - He's the reigning MVP and has been playing at an MVP level since we have acquired Kidd. He is one of the few good things that we have going for us, plus we would never get equal value for him, so why trade him?

Jet - I have to admit that I was one of the many people last offseason that thought we should have traded Jet. But after he's done everything we've asked him this season (6th man then start then 6th man), and he's actually SHOWED UP for the playoffs, I believe we should keep him. The fact that we have Kidd allows him to play the 2, and he can atleast keep up with the quicker guards on defense.

Josh - After admitting to the pot use and his horrible performance in the playoffs, I say get what you can for him. If we could use him + fillers/picks to get marion (who if he doesn't work out will be off the books soon and give us room to pick up a free agent) that would be ideal.

Stack - After all of the injuries this year, you just haven't been the same, we should get what we can with him (even though it won't be much).

Bass - We absolutely need his energy and toughness, he's going nowhere.

D. George - It probably won't happen b/c cuban hates his agent, but I think he is solid off the bench. He plays very good defense and is versitile. As long as he doesn't want too much, he should stay.

Damp/Kidd - They arent' going anywhere because of their contracts. Damp plays good defense anyway and I believe that Kidd will improve once he has gone through a training camp with the team.

Wright - Keep the kid, he's shown some potential.

Lue - He's a good back up point guard, we would have to avoid putting him and terry in at the same time. He's a better option than JJ.

Everyone else - You've overextended your stay, we have a championship that we're going for.

Avery - As much as I think you're a good coach, you might not be the right coach for this team, let's see if we can get Larry Brown (its a stretch i know)

We are as close as 1 or 2 pieces to be championship contenders, the tricky part is getting them.

I agree with some of this but not all.

Dirk's numbers are probably better because there is one less scoring option on this team since the Kidd trade.

Terry has done everything we asked, but so would I if I was on the Mavs. I'm sure they don't want me.

I agree with your ideas of Stack and Howard. Although I would consider some others for Howard as well.

Bass and Wright are keepers so I agree there.

George actually gives us some leverage on a possible trade because Cuban could sign him to a fairly good sized one year salary which would be an expiring to clear salary for a team. Perhaps that would help in acquiring someone like VC.

Kidd has an expiring this year so he could actually be decent trade bait as well. Perhaps for someone like JO if that is the direction we want to go.

I like the idea of Brown coming to the Mavs. He is what this group needs. However, I think this would be too much of a challenge. He is better off going to the East.
Avery is a good coach but will not be able to motivate this team anymore. He has to go even though I don't think he is the primary cause of this dissaster.

well i dont think we should get rid of stack...you have totally forgotten that since his injury he only played one last game and only 16 mins in that game you cant expect anyone to find there rhythm in just 16 mins of play during the last game of the season and then get pushed into the playoff and have to bust his ass every play....yes we should trade josh howard but not for marion at this point in time id go after someone like Artest hes a lot tougher than marion and at least he wouldnt get pushed around like everyone else does....I completely blame josh howard for this series as bad as it is rite now he just hasnt shown up he put to much pressure on himself with his comments about his pot usage.....Bass hell yeah keep him hes the 2nd best player on the team behind dirk!!

Jason Kidd I think we should keep him bc i agree he does need to be in a training camp...

I'm not sure about our draft pick situation bout someone we should sign if he doesnt get drafted is Robert Vaden of UAB, he has a hell of a perimiter game and can stretch defenses, hes the best offensive talent ive ever seen behind Walter Sharpe also at UAB 6' 9" but plays like a fricken PG he has jason kidd like courtvision---but sharpe is not going to enter his name bc of his Narcolepsy! but Vaden is the hardest working player ive been around and all he wants to do is win!

Players I hope to see on the team next year: Dirk (obviously), Kidd (showed up late in the season), Terry (im one of the few people who does not want him to go, and Bass (showed lots of promise, and I finally started to like him).

Players who I hope dont return: Malik, both Howards, Magloire, Stack.

All the rest I dont really care one way or the other.

P.S. ESPNEWS just said Larry Brown is the new Bobcats coach. Mavs should look elsewhere anyways.

players I wanna see next year: dirk and bass.
that's it.
I dont give a damn about the rest, as they dont seem to care about the mavs (with the lone exception of terry, but he just has too many flaws, that being height, defense, streaky).
for me you could trade away the whole roster besides the two names in the first line. everybody outta town, with coach avery being the first one. I dont care. seriously, if you take any 10 players in this league and let them play with dirk and bass, I bet it wouldnt be worse than now.

given that this front office was willing to trade Devin Harris I don't think they will say Bass is untouchable if they think it will net them an all-star calibre player to play with Dirk & Kidd...

I hate Stackhouse and think he needs to go. I have never liked Stackhouse's game which consists of one on one basketball and taking a lot of shots even though he really is not a good shooter. In my opinion guys that are not afraid to shoot but should be are terrible for a team.

Fans look at those few games when those type of players are hot and get this sense that this player is really good. I think Mavs fans still think that Nick Van Excel was so great when in reality he was an undersized shooting guard that shot less than 40% from the floor. Antoine Walker was another one of those guys with an inflated ego who thought they were a great shooter when they actual sucked.

I don't want guys like that on the team anymore. So Stack has to go.
