That is a very sudden decision, but its the right one IMO. Way to go, Cuban. We want Coach K!

Wow if true. I didn't expect it so soon I guess.

firing Avery won't cover up the holes of this roster.

But it could be the first step.

Avery could be a great coach, too bad the team was championship ready and had to go through some of his rookie mistakes with him. Now the team just flat out sucks and its not entirely Avery's fault. But it doesn't hlep that he has brought in old 30 something has-beens and never developed young talent.

I'm not surprised.

Was he saying he was fired? Or he will be fired? Link? Quote?

If Cuban really fired him like that after a game, what a sorry ass, classless way to do it. But I guess expected by a classless, sorry ass guy.

also sounds like a coach who has thrown his players under the bus in the past.
and since you know Cuban on a personal level, tell him the Kidd trade sucks for me. Thanks.

Who said I knew him personally?

Oh, I get it, I must know him personally to call him a sorry ass and say he's classless. Yes, you have to spend time with someone to make that call.

Anyway, I haven't seen a link or quote, so, probably nothing yet. Mavsblog says Cuban has made no comment when asked if AJ would lose his job. Nobody fires a coach on the way to the lockeroom after getting eliminated.

Hopefully this is just the start of rehauling alot of this team. We have some major changes that need to happen.

Also: as of now, it's not definite, but the Dallas radios are saying repeatedly that he is gone.

Also, I think it was a long time coming, i.e. not b/c of this particular game obviously.

ESPN 103.3: basing their report on Stein's earlier report that "Avery is definitely gone" if the Mavs lose tonight.

Mike Fischer: saying they should be "careful" about the report, but that Avery is most likely gone.
Mentions:
-that Avery canceling practice reportedly due to getting into a shouting match with a player
-inside the org, people criticized Avery for trying to turn Dirk into "Duncan-like", being a control Nazi, being too much of a system guy, and not letting Kidd run the offense.

i think the team needs a change at the coachin position even though avery is a good coach. I just hope that we go after a proven coach, not another upcoming coach.

My question is who the heck will replace Avery?

I mean people are calling for his head but who will the new coach be?

Paul Silas?
Del Harris?

Who else is out there?

Rick Carlisle (SP?)

I have been thinking Del Harris would be a perfect fit for this head coaching job since he has been in the organization for a long time... I know it is always risky, but I wouldnt mind seeing Dallas try to look at a rookie coach like Reggie Miller (always was a strong, smart team leader), or Donnie Nelson. I think Cuban wont be afraid to break the bank open looking for a coach so I would assume he can get us a pretty solid coach with a decent reputation... I just hope he doesnt think Pat Riley would be that guy

Any coach who wants to look at our talent and coach that talent's strengths gets my vote. Any coach who brings a system and coaches to that system come hell or high water can take their system and shove it.

Jim Clemons trying to force the triangle offense down our throats comes to mind as a coach with a winning system (if you have Jordan in it) that doesn't work with other talent. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
