What do you think Cuban will do with JJ?

Hey, I'm a big JJ fan and I've seen him buried at the end of the bench for a while now, and since the Mavs are looking to make some moves (starting with the head coach) I was thinking if JJ will ever get a chance to see the court with Dallas or if you will let him go sign with someone else. I'm sure he has the talent to stay in this league and I really would like to see him run an up tempo offense coming off the bench with the 2nd unit of another team (say Golden State, Phoenix, Orlando or even Boston). What do you guys think his future will be?

I was looking for some numbers since I remembered him playing against CP3 during some international tournaments when they were younger and I came across this article written by Holly MacKenzie in Slam Online:

"Over the weekend, I was going through old files and documents saved away on a flash drive and I came across this little breakdown written during the summer 2004. It was from the FIBA Under-21 tournament. Keep in mind, Jose Juan Barea had just dropped in triple-doubles before this performance against Paul. I may have been a little over-confident in my JJB love, but hindsight can be a funny thing.

GOLD MEDAL GAME: JOSE JUAN BAREA VS. CHRIS PAUL

Paul- 8 pts, 2 steals, 8 assists, 3 rebounds, 4 turnovers

I think it depends on what happens with Lue... It wouldnt surprise me if somebody outbid Dallas for Barea though.

JJ was one of the reasons the mavs lost all there momentum in game 4, he had no reason to be on the floor

Unfortunately I don't have the game taped. What exactly did he do that was so horrible? Did Paul go lights out on him? Or Pargo? Did he turn the ball over like mad or shoot airballs? I sure don't remember any of that. Saw a crapload of that from others though.

I have seen a lot good things from JJ, especially when Harris was hurt for that stretch and he played great for a third stringer. Don't forget Nash was buried on someone's bench too before Nelson recognized his talent, and in his first 2 years was less than stellar.

He was playing Pargo and the only thing he did wrong was be on the court at the same time George and every other bricklayer was. JJ should have shot the ball instead of passing to someone who is a worse shooter.

IMO, we should keep Barea because of his RFA status unless a team severely overpays for him.

I think he will be a decent backup and with Kidd and Terry still on this team, I think any RFA we could keep that allows us to use the MLE on other positions (like Diop) should stay.

Current Mavs that should be on our team unless an upgrade trade comes along in black. Gonners in red. Expiring trade bait in blue. Unkown in green.

Dampier / Allen / Magloire
Dirk / Bass / Howard
Howard / George / R. Terry
Stackhouse / Jones / Wright
Kidd / Terry / Barea / Lue*

*Unless he signs for vet min cuz we have more dier needs with MLE and Jones used the LLE

Barea will be resigned and be the 3rd string PG
I'm betting Lue will resign for vet min as 2nd string PG

HORRIBLE... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The Iverson stopper is LONG gone and Lue has nothing left in the tank!!!
Let JJ TAKE OVER the league or let him FREE!!!

Barea has a long way to go before he can think to be a starter in this league, and playing behind Kidd there are maybe 10-12 mpg at PG and if JET is on the team don't put it past the coach to use his as a PG before Barea...

I'll take JJ back if he'll settle for 3rd string. Lue is just plain better imo.

Lue is an UFA without bird rights.

It's very unlikely he stays a mav. If he does (MLE, of course), then I can see letting Barea go.

Lue wanted to be in Dallas when he signed here during the season, so why is it so unlikely he's coming back? I don't see anyone giving a part of the MLE for him, and we could re-sign him for a minimum deal (~1.3 mil)
