Your List of Players that should be moved
IMO, Kidd should the the first to be moved, he was the detriment to this team. He has a huge expiring and could net us somehting of value worth exploring. This is the list in order of players I think we should move:
1. Kidd
2. Terry
3. Stackhouse
4. Howard
5. Dampier
6. Jones
I put Terry ahead of Stack because I think he can net more value, same with Howard over Damp. Howard has low value now, while I think we should trade him for his antics, the others should go first. Damp obviously will be impossible to trade, I can't fathom any trade where a team will take him.

I like your categories forty, I'll give it a try too:
Off-Limits:
I cant honestly say any player on a team thats never won the title and isnt under 25 should be off limits, so no one.
Only trade if its blow your mind off
Dirk Nowitzki
Trade if it upgrades
Josh Howard
Brandon Bass
Resign, Keep, Give PT
Antoine Wright
Rashawn Terry
Dump/Trade
Everyone else

At least three of those guys are young. I heard a dirk interview that he said twice "If I am back....." I think he can see the writing on the wall that no matter how hard he has played and how great he is, that he could be traded. I think it is inevitable that Kidd will not be back after his contract expires, and that dirk may look elsewhere and demand a trade. I think we look to major changes after the kidd deal expires.

First off, ^ I don't think Dirk's comments were about being traded as much as possibly wanting to be traded.
Also, if the rumors are true, that the Mavs passed on Gasol, KG b/c they weren't willing to part with JHo +, then the FO truly overrates its players which is why this team hasn't had a "mind blowing" trade in recent history. And then made a "panic" trade in Kidd.
But those are just rumors. Nevertheless I hope they are actively looking this summer, not just settling for the same core with a new coach b/c this roster has major holes and meanwhile Dirk's prime is ticking away while they are still trying to construct the pieces around him.

I don't necessaraily regret the Kidd trade and agree that we had to make a move. My issue is that if we do end up moving Howard for someone like Marion or Redd then we ended up moving the two pieces that could have netted us a bigger name.
Would you rather have Dirk and Kobe or Kidd, Marion, and Dirk?

I agree 100%, I want a young team that can still make the playoffs though even as an 8th seed, so NJ doesnt get a good pick in 2010, then really start to build a contender.

You would be crazy to move Kidd with his contract expiring next season. Unless you can get an unprotected 1st rounder for him in the top ten or something similar, but that's not going to happen.
1. Dampier
2. Josh
3. Terry
That's it. Those three players need to be traded this summer to any team willing to take them for expiring contracts. Then the team should wait until next summer (2009) to drop everyone and sign free agents.
If the Mavs were REALLY smart, they would tank this upcoming season by playing Dirk moderately (25-30 minutes a game) along with a bunch of scrubs so they win only 20-25 games. That way, they get a top 5 pick in the draft next year.

We should trade Jason Terry & Jerry Stackhouse for Wally Sczcerbiak and Damon Jones. By letting those two expire, we are able to sign Bass to more than MLE amount next year if we need to, but not on my plan here.
And only sign players with vet min & MLE to contracts no longer than 2 years (3rd year unguaranteed).
Trade Dirk for Beasley + Marion.
Trade Shawn Marion for an expiring and a high pick
Trade Bass, the pick from the Marion trade, unlimited amount of 2nd round picks and Jones (exp so they can resign Bass) for Rose + whichever they want to dump (Watson or Ridnour..both expire 2010)
Trade Josh Howard for McDyess (expiring 2010) and Rodney Stucky.
Stuckey (1.8 mil), Beasley (5 mil?), Rose (4.5 mil?) and Dallas 2009 pic (2.5 mil? Assuming lotto year). =~ $13.8 mil
If salary cap in 2010 is around 55 mil, then we have around $41 mil to work with.
Then, with a lineup of ?C? / Beasley / ?SF? / Stucky / Rose, convince Lebron and Bynum to Max out with us.
Sign Lebron James to a 6-yr-vet max contract (starting in the ballpark of $14 mil)
Sign Bynum to a 5-yr-vet max contract (starting around $13 mil)
Then roll out a lineup for the 2010-11 season of:
Bynum / Beasley / James / Stucky / Rose (6th man is our 2009 pick)
with 15 mil more cap space to work with we can go after Deron Williams, Chris Bosh or Danny Granger the same summer.

You guys are crazy. What PG are we going to get this year that's better than J Kidd?
This should be the list:
1. Howard - I think we can get Marion for him plus someone
2. Stack - we can upgrade and go younger (do I hear a Howard + Stack for Marion?)
3. Jones - just get rid of him. Period.
4. Deavean George - he's just not that good of a player. I'd keep him for his height and he's cheap... but his shot sucks and he didn't ever step up.
5. Tyron Lue - I was ok with what he did for us this year but I think we could get a better back-up PG.
6. JJ Barea - he should actually be higher on the list. Wasted roster spot if you ask me. I'd rather have Rayshawn on the squad. He might be able to take Stack's job immediately.
7. Malik Allen - not bad but just not good.
I really don't think we are going to get equal value for Terry so we should just keep him. He's our best 3pt shooter and he's clutch. He's too small but he's still a valuable player for us, especially as a big man.
We all know Damp isn't going anywhere and I'm totally fine with that. He's a big body that rebounds well and can block shots. He does a lot of things we need and you just aren't going to get a better big man unless we trade Dirk.

I want to get rid of several players on our current roster. I know this is all fantasy but I think with a new coach and a new start we should go out there and make some major moves.
here is what I came up with:
trade josh howard and stack to miami for marion
trade kidd to chicago for kirk hinrich and nocioni
trade the jet and a second rounder to the clips for maggs
sign diop with the MLE
that leaves you with
hinrich
magette
marion
dirk
damp
off the bench
bass
diop
nocioni
..
..
I think hinrich will bounce back and he knows how to play defense, marion's strenghts is defense as well, but he can score as well. maggs is definitely an upgrade at the 2.

With Maggette and Marion wouldn't you rather have Kidd as the point guard?
