Do you like the rumored deal?

Hoopsworld says the Mavs and the Kings're talking about JoHo - Artest + AJ (Sign & deal) swap. Do you like it?
Personally, I like Ron Artest as a player. I don't care much about his off court behavior. He's at least an upgrade at SF. More than JoHo (e.g. taking on KT's contract unless we've got a decent swingman ), I won't do it. With all his faults, Josh was still an all-star.

I love it. I think trading Howard is the best way to shake up the roster, and Artest would be a great fit. I'm willing to take a risk on whatever issues he may bring.

What rumor? It looks like another one of those six degrees "should they not?" template.

They always come up with "rumors" but most of them arent any different than good trades on the Trade Forum.

Give me five good reasons why we shouldn't do the trade (Artest and Anthony Johnson for Josh Howard) along with the signing of Diop as a FA...

I'm going to start by saying I take everything on Hoopsworld with a grain of salt.
I'm not completely sold on Artest for Howard. While Artest would be a defensive upgrade I don't see his offensive game meshing with Kidd. I still would rather have Marion than Artest.
Besides the Kings already have Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia, Quincy Douby, and John Salmons. Howard for Artest wouldn't make sense for them.
Why Not?

Make it happen, Artest would Never quit the way Howard did in the playoffs. Howard and Patrick Crayton must get the hell out of town! I can never trust those two again.

It's not even a rumor, really. What Bill Ingram always does is take what's obvious (which would occupy the first two paragraphs of his article) then formulate a "what if" scenario... which any kid with a keyboard, internet, and a spare basement has been doing on message boards for years.

lol i love u man
but crayton didnt quit man...hes jus i dunno
he talks to big a game then he plays...im prayin he doesnt turn into a freddie mitchell
but now back on subject
this is only a good deal b/c we get rid of that trash filled contract of j-hos for a top notch defender whom has a expiring contract and a good back up point guard who carlisle trusts
i dont know too much about charlie villanueavas game but i think thas a guy who shud go after cuz if we are not gonna have a athletic wing we gotta have athleticism somewhere along with the 2 guard position

I'd still prefer marion but would do this deal as well. just like carlisle said artest is one of few real difference makers in this league. he is an outstanding defender and a tough player. should change the mavs image a little bit, I guess the soft label would be gone. thats why I would do the deal.
would love it if miller was in the deal as well, maybe for josh, stack and barea

Besides the fact that the site has historically told us point blank that things were about to happen, that proved to be flatly untrue, we read in that article the following:
"Dallas has already spoken to Kings free agent point guard Beno Udrih ..."
Given the fact it is ILLEGAL for teams to talk to free agents yet, and that such activity is pure tampering, I don't believe that item for even a fraction of a second. (Dallas talked to Udrih illegally, risking losses of cash and picks just to talk to that scrub, then even more stupidly turned around and blabbed it to Bill Ingram? Um no.)
Also, notice the lack of credibility in the logic. After telling us that the Mavs are implausibly interested in Udrih, when it comes time to cobble up a trade rumor, he writes it as Artest plus Anthony Johnson (as the filler), ignoring the fact in his own fake rumor he just tried to tell us that the Mavs supposedly are tampering with Udrih, and also ignoring the fact A Johnson sucked as a PG here.
Altogether, this isn't any real news, but instead is simply another piece of evidence of the type of fake crap they're willing to throw out to draw readership to that site. Pure junk.

With athleticism being a top priority for the Mavericks, don't look now but expect the team to make serious inquiries about Jonathan Bender. The rangy 7'1" swingman played for Carlisle in Indiana and supplies Big D with the much needed quickness and versatility they've long hoped for in their frontcourt positions. Health is always a concern for the retiree and the possibility of the youngster coming out of retirement is as large as Miley Cyrus's vagine, but cut this aspiring journalist some slack, aight? It's hard to write articles when my only connections are six degrees and Verizon.

Speaking to their reps is the way to make this happen. It happens all the time, and it not really illegal. How do you think contract get signed two seconds after FA starts in July?

Sorry catalyst but if the Mavs are talking to Udrih (which I am sooooooooo skeptical about), I promise you, they are not whispering it to Ingram and hoopsworld. So when Ingram and hoopsworld tell me definitively they KNOW such discussions are taking place, it's one more lie to their readers in my book, and the fact that their later stab at a possible low-salaried guard coming to Dallas is AJ not Udrih tells me they obviously know better than to buy their own crap, and we shouldn't either.

I agree. I am making more of a general comment that discussions happen when they are not supposed to. Multi million dollar deals do not get done on doorsteps with a pencil in 5 minutes.

I wouldnt mind having Udrih.. He seemed to play pretty well in Sacramento last season. As far as the Artest and AJ for Howard, I would do that trade in a heartbeat. I would rather the Mavs try and push for the Marion S&T instead, but I would be satisfied with this trade too.

Switch AJ to Garcia or Udrih, else PASS
OR
Bass + Stack for Artest
