Trade Dal-Cha

I don't know much about Larry Browns coaching strategy with personnel so this trade is truly coming out of my *** but I just want to keep throwing ideas around until we have something with substance to talk about.

Dal Trades:
Erick Dampier
Josh Howard
Eddie Jones (Accepting player option then he could be bought out or w/e they want to do with him)

Charlotte Trades:
Jason Richardson
Nazr Mohammed
S&T Matt Carroll

This gives the mavs a good player in Richardson who can shoot, play some defense, and get to the basket. He is much younger than people think at 27. (Younger than Josh Howard) A center who is atleast serviceable in Mohammed, and a great shooter in Carroll who could be a nice role player with the mavs.

The bobcats get a young player in Howard who they can try to establish as a solid #2 or #3, this also keeps their athleticism up replacing Richardson with Howard. Gives them a solid center to play beside Emeka Okafor, while having Sean May coming back from injury to share some time with Damp while moving Okafor to center. Eddie is just used for contract filler incase Carroll wants more than about 2.2 million a year.

There have been rumors that Larry Brown may have a fire sale in Charlotte, so the mavs could get Richardson for cheaper but I know how badly everyone wants to see Dampier go.

Maybe we could find a way to get May out of the deal by throwing in something else but I highly doubt that.

Also in games Nazr Mohammed played 28 minutes or more, which is about how much he would probably be playing here, he averaged 13.88 ppg and 10.47 rpg, which is very respectable. His season averages don't look as good because before he was in Charlotte there were many games he would just see garbage time at the end or very limited minutes.

Switch Howard to Terry and I'd concider it....Still probably don't do it. Definatly not with Howard.

or

Eliminate all the accesory pieces and strip this down to Richardson + incentive for Howard and I'd concider it.

As constructed.....HELL NO

what about Richardson + S&T Matt Carroll + 38th Pick for Howard + Stackhouse + 51st Pick?

What do you think about that?

I'm sorry, but Matt Carroll, a one trick pony, is not incentive enough enough to pull this trade off and the 38-51 swap will not do anything this year.

I'm not saying that's not fair, but as inconsistant as Howard is, J-Rich is even worse. Even if Howard and J-Rich were even in everyone's eye's, there has to be some incentive to push a trade (trade demand, extra value, salary saving, etc...Cuban would be looking for more talent)

Carroll may only be able to shoot but you can't tell me that he wouldn't be a sizable upgrade to the aging Stackhouse. We need someone who is a more consistent three point shooter than Terry, especially if the mavs end up moving Terry (which I don't think they will do because of his contract). The pick swapping I think would mean something. The mavs could buy a late first round pick and either use these or package them for something else.
I truly believe Richardson would help the mavs more than Howard. He is a much better three point shooter, granted he shoots significantly more 3's a game, and he gives the mavs a true sg.

And we lose a true...even better SF.

And we are not trading Terry, who is more concistant that Matt can ever dream to be.

Terry and consistent should never be used together. I would much prefer this trade to replace howard with terry but I just don't see Charlotte even budging at this trade. Howard needs to be moved, sure he could have a mediocre season here with the mavericks but we need some change. Richardson gives us a more consistent three point shot that will make teams respect that he is out there, unlike when josh howard takes any jump shot. Teams love when they play the mavs and howard settles for any jump shot. He is an awful shooter, that gets streaky every now and then, but kills the mavs more with his terrible decision making.

By the way, I am a huge Terry fan but he is not a 9 million dollar a year player and definitely not someone we should rely on scoring 15-17 points a game. He either gets about 22-27 or he gets 6-10. Not much in between because he is very inconsistent. Carroll could be someone we put in with the second team to hit open shots or maybe someone to put in when Richardson, or whoever our sf would be, is not shooting particularly well. It's been a long time since the mavs have had a good pure shooter like Carroll.

Carroll could be our reincarnation of Hubert Davis, but Carroll shoots a higher ft percentage. I'm not saying he would replace Terry but he would add to something the mavs have desperately needed over their past few seasons and playoff runs. Terry is a scorer, not a shooter. More specifically, he is a scorer with a pretty good shot.

Watching the mavs and seeing the times where they struggle to score, you can't say that with a lineup of Terry, Carroll, Richardson, Dirk, and Bass that we would be able to put Bass in the post or dirk around the top of the key and go to work having 3 great spot up shooters, or two with Richardson as a cutter. Granted we would have absolutely no ball handling with this lineup or defense, but it would be fun to see them in the half court, unlike the past years of our half court offense with Avery.

You would not need a Matt Carroll S&T because he agreed last year to a 6-year contract worth about 27M.

This changes something. I continue to think that the best thing if you want to trade Josh Howard is to trade him to the Bucks :D

Yes, for Andrew Bogut.
But I don't think you guy would want to part with him.

I would rather have JRich or G. Wallace at this point. Nazr does nothing for me so if we could get a deal that keeps Damp I'd lean that way.

I wouldn't do this deal, but I'd love to find a way to get Nazr here as our backup center. Probably not going to happen though.

I would be split on this deal, but I am with JES12 on this one when I say I would rather switch Terry for Howard, even if we didnt get Matt Carroll
