Eddie Jones
Brandon Bass
Dallas Recieves:
Allen Iverson
Shawn Marion
Udonis Haslem
Denver Trades:

Denver Receives:
Jason Kidd
Miami Trades:
Udonis Haslem
Shawn Marion
Miami Receives:
Josh Howard
Jerry Stackhouse
Eddie Jones
Brandon Bass
Mavs Lineup:
Dampier/Diop?/Haslem
Nowitzki/Haslem/Marion
Marion/Wright/Matt Barnes?
Ricky Davis?/Michael Pietrus?
Iverson/Terry

Seems okay for everyone, but if we're getting Marion I'd rather have Kidd than Iverson.

Yeah I thought about that as well, until I remembered when Iverson came to Dallas last season and had like 32pts and 12ast, and it came back to me why he is Iverson.

it looks good for all involved but if the nuggets plan on trading carmelo they wont trade iverson as well because they lose all scoring from their team. There were reports that iverson is more likely to be moved than carmelo so this would be an ideal situation for them because kidds contract ends after a year as well, although i don't see cuban trading kidd because he would have to admit he was wrong with the trade.
We would have some holes to fill at sg and backups for all positions except pf so i dont know how good our bench would be. We wouldn't be able to get all of the free agents listed, maybe diop + miles or just pietrus or just davis (i dont want him) but thats about it other than players for the minimum.

I like it for Dallas, but I doubt the other teams would do it.

I don't think this will actually happen. Dallas gets a good deal though.

I don't like it.
I'm not really a big gan of guys like Iverson, Arenas, Gordon and Terry as a starter. This new team will more than likely have both Terry and Iverson starting (disgusting).
As for SG? No Stack, no Jones..we are left with either an undersized shooter in Terry/AI or an unproven Antoine Wright.
And we lose Kidd for a combo-guard? Really?
Terrible....just out right terrible for the mavs. If no one else will say it, I will for the bad trade it is.
Simply put:
Kidd/Terry > AI/Terry
Bass > Haslem
Howard ~ Marion
Losing the fillers hurt our depth for a NON-UPGRADE trade.
Suggestions for fixing...
If Iverson is coming and Kidd leaving, forget the Marion/Howard trade and use Terry as outgoing talent (meaning Bass stays too).
If Marion-Howard/Stack trade is happening...leave it like that and keep Kidd...stay away from Iverson.

Can you elaborate on why you think Howard is equivalent to Marion?

Marion is not and can never be a 2nd option or 20 PPG or a player that can create for himself if needed...Howard is all of that. Howard can never get 2+ SPG and 10+ RPG. Because of that, Kidd/Marion > Kidd/Howard. Most PGs (in this case, Terry and Iverson)/Howard > most PGs/Marion.

marion has averaged 20ppg. Can howard create for himself? He has the spin to the right in the post which works two times a game. What else does he have?
...Howard is all of that.
do you honestly believe that? if Dirk is a number one and Howard is a number 2, why weren't you confident in the Mavericks after the trade?

if the Mavs still had Devin Harris, who would you want Marion or Howard? Is Terry/Howard better than Kidd/Marion?
Besides the steals, don't you think their defensive abilities plays a huge role in determing who is the better player?

The reason why I was for the deal was because...
Iverson: We do NOT have a penetrating player, and please don't say that it's Dirk or Terry. I mean someone who can get to the rim and finish or kick it out but draw the defense in. Yeah Iverson may be a selfish player, but what have you heard about him in a negative way since he has been in Denver?
Marion: Yes Marion and Howard are about the same but you find few guys that can guard the 2, 3 and the 4! Remember it was Marion who guarded not only Duncan but Nowitzki come playoff time and as I remember he did a pretty good job at as well. Even though Marion is a scrappy player when it comes to points, atleast he is what he is. Nowadays you got Josh Howard thinking every fall away shot is going in for him.
Haslem: Great complimentary player, plays tough and doesn't back down. Could actually fill in at center at times because there are no true big men other than Shaq and Yao, everybody else are athletic PF who happen to be the biggest players on their teams.

1) Marion has scored less than Terry in the last two years. Marion will never be a 20 pt scorer ever again. You can bet on that.
2) Dirk can be a #1. Howard can be a #2. But you need a good PG and I'm sorry to say that a shooting ball hog like Iverson and a non-shooting ball hog like Kidd at age 35 is not it. That is why I am less confident. On top of that, I truly believe Howard would make a great 3 and a decent 2. Howard is not a clear cut #2, but he is WAAAAYY more of a #2 than Marion will ever be from 2006 on.
3) If the Mavs still had Harris, I'd prefer Howard, but that is a moot point anyways, so why bring it up?
4) Defense...yes, absolutley. Howard has the ability to as shown in years past....just no this year where he tuned out Avery. 4 years ago, Marion was the better player, but the last two years, it has been Howard. The only reason why I even concider trading him is because the DAM front office traded Harris.

Don't worry about Marion and Haslem because the Heat won't even touch that trade.

interesting. I disagree with just about everything you said but thanks for elaborating.
