Why No Mention of 2006 Finals?

Post#1 » by Maverick Junkie » Sun Jun 15, 2008 4:52 pm

With all these allegations of fixing games, why has their not been one mention of the 2006 Finals? This was talked about on the ticket yesterday and I have been thinking the same thing ever since these allegations came out about Donaghy. Call me a Homer, but that ws the worst officiated Finals EVER!!!!! Over and Over again Wade kept getting the benefit of the doubt with what seemed like every call. The Call with 1. 9 seconds left of game 5 gave one game to Miami and took one from us, and Dirk touched Wade's hip while Wade was trying to take on our whole team. Whatever, I guess we just have to take it? Had that call not been made, we would not have traded for Kidd, we would have a first round pick this year and 2010, I would not have to see Dwayne Wade in every F---ing commercial, and most importantly we would have a Championship and a swagger beeing World Champs.

Call me a Homer, Sore Loser, or anything you like, but the Fact is , and it is a Fact, that the 2006 Finals was Fixed. It has to be, no officiating can possibly be that consistently bad.

The league is corrupt, all the dirt that keeps coming up just confirms that for me.

Of course it would be great to know it for sure for the 06 finals, but i guess it will never really get confirmed. It would destroy the league, teamowners would sue the league (esp. Cuban) and the Nba would go bankrupt. But everyone knows it latently.

I haven't brought it up because it was so obvious and recent discoveries haven't altered my perception at all.

When I became an NBA fan I quickly learned it was either accept the fact that subjective and questionable officiating is a prevelant part of the game or watch something else.

I agree with mavsfoty

You need 2 superstarts in this league. Not superstars talent wise, 2 superstars that either have a rap album (Shaq) or ones that have so many commercials that you turn the station just to not watch them and their arrogant selves (Shaq and Wade).

Dallas didn't have either and Miami had both.

End of story.

BTW, that is the EXACT SAME REASON why people don't concider Dirk a superstar that can lead you to the finals...even though he already did that.

Why do the spurs win then? How many commercials are they doing?

David Robinson - A great, great man and player. Great role model to not just young black kids, but to all.... There was no way he wasn't going to get his ring. He was marketed a lot.

Tim Duncan is marketed a lot. Not as much as Wade, Shaq, Lebron and Gilbert Arenas, but more than any Maverick in their prime.

Mr. Evan Longoria...rest my case, AKA Final's MVP....rest my case.

I could go on, but why?

Clearly that is the case even if you don't want to admit it.

Same is true with Detroit with the Wallace fro and the Wallace spot head coplaining on every call.
Same is true with with Pippen/Jordan.

If there is an exception in recent memory, it was the Houston Rockets....NOT the Spurs.

the mystery behind the 2006 finals will just die with history... together with amelia earhart, the kennedy assasination and the aliens at rosswell...

there's absolutely no way this type of stuff gets confirmed and admitted unless stern shoots himself before he admits a relationship with J Edgar Hoover..... the NBA, just like any profit-driven business has politics involved.... it just matters on who you rub elbows with...

I believe the NBA has a say on who broadcasts their games. The broadcasters won't hardly say anything negative about the NBA. The sportscaster on my ABC affiliate won't even do that (it's an ABC owned station), but the other ones do. Face it, the questions unanswered about the officiating and the executives who made decisions to change how calls were made give the league less and less credibility. Ya know, baseball is slowly making its way back. Hockey is too. Stern could be driving the NBA into the ground...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

I have thought about it, but there really is nothing that can come of it now. The leagues reputation is tarnished and David Stern is too ignorant to do anything about it. Until he retires and they get somebody who can keep the refs from corrupting the results of games for ratings, there will always be questions. All I know is that Dallas was robbed like no other, and I fully expect it to come out in a few years. Hell, look how long it took them to come out about Sac. vs. LA, and that was 5 years ago and as obvious as the 06' Finals.
