Hey guys Nets fan here.
My team basically last night admited that it stank and decided to pretty much give one of its best players for peanuts in the form of a dude with upside that hasnt shown anything to back it up and a guy with one of the worst contracts Ive ever seen that just ends when the Nets plan to make a bang.

So basically the Nets right now are a rebuilding team with a top 5 SG-VC thats still in the prime of his career.
So Ive been thinking who could use Vince and in a second I thought about you guys and Pheonix.
You guys are still looking to stay competitive with an excellent PG and a top 5 PF, add a top 5 SG and youre just like that back to the top of the West/near it.

So how about VC +Nenad in a sign and trade if needed(maybe we'll even return that 2010 draft pick you guys gave us in the Kidd trade) for Josh Howard+fillers?

PS if there is a specific thread for trades Im sorry I just saw that there are other trade topics so I just assumed its cool.

I'm in favour of such a move for a long time now, it makes sense for both teams.

You can keep Kristic if you S&T us Diop who is rumoured to sign with us anyways. That way we keep the MLE for FA. And it makes sense for NJ as Josh is younger, cheaper, has great history with Harris and his contract is guaranteed one year less.

The issue that always comes up while discussing this trade is the bad history between Kidd and Vince though. If this is really true and both players simply cant stand each other anymore, this trade unfortunatelly wont happen.

I can tell you right now that Kidd and VC got along just great.
Those "hatred" rumors only started this year and were made up by reporters Kidd and Vince never missed a chance to put each other over.

I don't think that trade comes close to deserving the *blockbuster* label..

As long as there are no problems between Kidd and VC I'd be all for Carter + Diop for Howard + Stackhouse.

The only real problem is finding that filler forget about Stack that dude wont be easy to trade after the messed up things he did in the Kidd trade

Yeah, the Nets are rebuilding but their not stupid, you don't give up talent for less talent.

He opened his mouth when he shouldn't have, but I don't see how that would make any difference to his trade value.

This doesn't improve anything from Dallas point of view. No cap room. No defense. Injury concern. The only good thing is Diop and 2010 pick. I am not sure I'd like to rebuild now. And such move isn't a great choice for Dallas.

Ever get the feelin' we have unfinished business with those pesky Nets?

I would like Carter here and Diop returning. I am not sure if I want to give up Howard, his defense, his youth for it though...

Howard is a few brain cells away from being an all-star...

I thought the Nets were trying to dump salary for a FA (LJ)?

If that is the case I would think they would want youth and an expiring for VC.

Maybe a 3-way deal sending Howard, George, and Diop to Miami, Marion to the Nets, and VC to Dallas.

I'm not sure that VC would be a great improvement over Howard for this team though. We are weak enough already on defense. I think I would rather have Marion.

vince aint coming to dallas coz number 15 is retired.. LOL

but seriously, i think its a good move... at least dallas gets to keep their MLE to sign a SF or a SG who could defend...

C- dampier / diop
PF- dirk / bass
SF- carter / george
SG- JET / wright
PG- kidd / lue / barea

if dallas gets VC, then JET might be on the way out as well.... maybe for a big guard...

carter and dirk could be a great duo and people keep saying we need a #2 to go next to dirk and if we got carter it'd be like 1A and 1b and both of these players have hit big shots in the past (though VC takes way to much crap)

Id rather give Howard a chance under RC before I traded him for Vince. All of Vince Carter's injuries in the past and his age have to be taking a toll on his body. Plus, we should be looking to get younger.

youth got thrown out the door when we traded for kidd, when we decide to get young we should completely tear this thing down. we should be looking to make one last push and putting the best players together rather than trying to get younger

im sure the nets FO have been shopping around VC around just like they did with RJ to clear up cap room for LBJ in 2011... now that being said, josh howard's contract expires right about that time and he still has some trade value...

so if you look at it this way, the nets dont trade carter for crap (actually its someone who is pretty close with devin) and they clear cap space at the right time...

since dallas would be willing to scratch their backs, i guess its about time they did too.. now if they could send in diop with their VC package, it'll let dallas keep their full MLE to spend on someone else...

dirk, VC, jet and kidd would be awesome offensively... now if we could spend the MLE for someone who defends, i guess we could call it a good offseason... just my 2 cents...

I'd prefer Dallas to keep Josh Howard over Vince Carter. His contracts puts Dallas into a situation that most likely makes Jason Kidd's stay here for one more season and this team doesn't need to go that route.

We have contracts of our own that we would like to move like Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse. Dallas needs to focus on moving one of those first and I prefer it to be Jason Terry. I doubt New Jersey has any interest and that's another reason why I prefer Dallas to keep Josh Howard in this situation.

Stack's contract would fit perfectly with the Nets who are looking for contracts that end up in 2010 and or young prospects.
Stack would probably be bought out by the Nets like what was planed with the Kidd trade but still it would work.

The Net rejected Wally (expiring) for VC straight up. So I take a look at what is said, I believe cap relief means VC + Hassell / Simmons for expiring contracts.

That's not the case at all. I basically said the team can't afford to let Jason go after next season and especially not for Vince Carter. I just don't see Mark Cuban offering Jason Kidd a contract extension if Vince Carter is on the team. If Vince was only going to be around for two year I would be fine with acquiring him but four years is too many.
