WHY??? This is a waste of a roster spot. I would rather have Tyronne Lue as the 3rd PG. Or even let Seibutis have that slot. This makes no sense to me. He has no real future.

No surprise here. Lue, Duhon and all other decent backup PGs will get better offers than vet min and may accept vet min on better teams, leaving us with Kidd / Terry / Barea at PG

Barea > D-leaguers > Seibutis

Barea > D-leaguers > Seibutis
Not sure I agree with the D-leaguers > Seibutis but regardless Seibutis at 6'5" has a chance to improve and be a solid contributing player. Barea will never be anything more than a novelty act. At 5'11" he will always be a liability out on the floor. I just don't think we should waste any time on him. And if we don't feel that Seibutis is the guy then get some other young guy and try to develop him.

Doesnt really bother me one way or another, but I didnt expect them to re-sign him. I dont really see a future for him here, but who cares.

Barea under Carlisle's tutelage >>> Barea under Avery's tutelage...
Everyone needs to remember, Carlisle ain't Avery!

He's good enough to be on a 50+ win NBA franchise! That's good enough for me!

Barea is a fun summer league player.
And I would rather have him as our bench mascot than have to put up with Champ and Mavs Man's big bag of nothing.

What is this year #3 fir him? I'm pretty sure there's other PG's out there that are better backups than him, why is he still here? Only F.O. knows.

Update on Barea:
BB-Supercup in Bambery, Germany:Puerto Rico wins against Germany 85:83
- Nowitzki had 21 Points / 11 Boards
- Barea scored 24 Points / 2 buzzer-beater / many three's
So the Olmpic-Qualifiers won't be easy for Germany, but with the help of Kaman and improved defense on the perimeter, we should be able to qualify for the Olympics.
Barea would be a star if he would play in the Euroleague, because there's not so much athletic abilitiy needed than finesse. I hope he could develop into a Kidd-backup with more experience in these tournaments. He seems to be very streaky at times, but there are many streaky players in the NBA right now, so I wish him the best!

the loss of okulaja is a major blow for germany though. will be tough to qualify for the olympics even with kaman at C. a little off topic, I know

don't really think so, okulaja stank it up with bamberg is definitvely is past his peak.
barea yesterday with 31 against greece with guards like diamantidis, widely considered europe's best defensive player. he ain't that bad, i think he is a decent backup or a very good 3rd string.

31 points versus Greece is really awesome. Barea made it into the nba the hard way, got undrafted, killed it in the developing league and got coached by Avery. He saw his first minutes in the playoffs in game 5. I think he sucked in that game but how is he supposed to develope confidence by sitting on the bench? I wish him only the best, he certainly deserves the backup pointguard position by now. Its time for the next step.

barea is playing very nicely in this tourneys. also last year when playing for puerto rico he had some nice games. I like him as our 3rd stringer. (if he only could grow an inch or two...)
