Thoughts on Pape Sow
He is on our Summer League roster. He is 6'10 and 255. I saw that in the D-League, he put up rediculous numbers(42 points in one game and 27 points,24 rebounds in another). Could he be a 3rd center who can score and help with athletic bigs. I am also hoping for Pops to stick.

He could be our 3rd Center. I would be happy with that. I was thinking that Pops might make the team but he is not much different than Bass. If Pape Sow is truly a center than he is probably a better option. We still have that 3rd Center position open. I love that fact that he scored 42 in one game and 27 in another. That makes him the best offensive option at Center on the team. I don't think Diop could score 42 even in the D-League unless it is over 2-3 games.

I don't think Diop even scored 10 points the whole Summer League, and he was suppose to be focused entirely on offense at the time.
We should look to Ratliff as our third-string center.

I am tired of adding old 10th - 15th men. We don't need to go old. We should continue to try and develop some younger players with those roster slots. I would rather have Pape Sow even if Ratliff is slightly better at this point. And I don't think much of Ratliff at this point in his career.

I was pretty excited when I read that a well there should be a spot for him on this team if he can do that in the big leagues and he might make a good Amare stopper as well.

I hope Pape makes the team but for some reason I don't think Pops Mensah Bonsu is gonna make the team.

Re: Thoughts on Pape Sow
Well, as Realmavsfan said, I'd like to see the Mavericks develop both Shan Foster (possibly next year), and Reyshawn Terry (THIS year). Their not the same position, but regardless, there's only so many minutes for our team. If Diop is going to take over the reigns of Center once Dampier is off the books, and Sow can provide something for us off the bench, sure, I'll take on Pape as our 3rd Center, but he would have to be patient, because unless one of our two other big's go down, he won't get much PT. It's just there's so many players we can have on our team. I doubt he'd make our active roster unless we have some injuries or to play match-ups which require us to use up fouls.

Re: Thoughts on Pape Sow
Out of the summer league players, Sow and Korolev interest me the most. Sow is beefy and not eligible for AARP unlike most of the bigs we've signed in the past couple of years. Korolev is 21 with a well rounded skill set, that needs a well rounded mindset to go with it. I'd rather have players we can coach up, rather than prop up on their last legs.

I'm happy to hear that Pape might get another chance in the league again. He'll provide aggressiveness and energy, but he's undersized for a C imo. He's injuries might be the biggest concern. Not too sure if he's fully recovered or if it'll be a lingering problem though.

He broke his vertebra during a practice in the '06 preseason. Drove to the hoop, fell and collided with a teammate.

I knew about the injury. Wally Szczerbiak had the same injury several years ago. I am just sick of us grabbing Dinosaurs of the FA list.
