Richie Frahm our next acquisition?

Post#1 » by Realmavsman » Thu Jul 10, 2008 3:35 pm

Sounds like Richie Frahm will be the next to take a roster slot on this team. Based upon comments made by Carlisle it sounds like he is impressed with Frahm as a shooter and they are likely to add him to the list of spares that we are signing this off-season. The only problem I see is that his career shooting numbers are only average. I just don't know where this rep as some sharp shooter coming from. His career shooting percentage is .411 and .356 from 3-pt range. Hardly seems like sharp shooter type numbers. If he was a sharp shooter then I don't really have a problem signing him I just don't see it.

What an off-season:

Diop: OK, happy to have him back but full MLE is too much
Green: Thrilled to give him a chance to revive his career here but still no guarantee here
Barea: I am not happy with this one at all. I still think he a novelty act and nothing more.
Singleton: Don't know a lot about him but a Clipper's spare can't be too exciting.
Frahm(?): Is he really a sharpshooter?

So we are using up roster slots and we don't know if there will even be room for Shan Foster, Reyshawn Terry, Seibutis, Pops Mensa-Bonsu, Pape Sow and other hopefuls.

We still really need a 3rd Center. So maybe Pape Sow has a chance.

So unless they have some 2 or 3 for 1 deal out there to free up some roster slots we may not see Terry or Foster on the roster.

The Mavs had a lot of holes and not a lot of assets or exceptions to use.

So it comes down to guys like Frahm.

Will Frahm be guaranteed? I don't believe so.

Predicted Lineup
Kidd/Tinsley/Barea
J. Terry/Azubuike/Foster
Howard/Green/R. Terry
Dirk/Barnes/Pops
Damp/Diop/Sow

Azubuike and Barnes will be S&T for Stack, Jones, and Bass hopefully .
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

If J Terry is the starting SG we are screwed.

I can't believe the practice shooter make the team before Antoine Wright who
shoots 50+ from the field and from the arc.

If Frahm is anywhere near the decent defender Carlisie claimed, Antoine should be
an outstanding defender.

Maybe the mavs is offering too little or AW wants more than expected.
Personally, I expect either AW or DG make the team.

I sure hope that he doesn't get a contract, I wanted at least two of the following:

Seibutis, Foster, Terry, Pape Sowe.

If things go the way they're looking right now...

PG- Kidd, Barea
SG- JET, Frahm, Stackhouse, Jones
SF- Howard, Green, Singleton
PF- Dirk, Bass
C- Dampier, Diop

Then George will probably re-sign, we're the only one's who would take the bum.

That leaves only one of our former rookies OR Pape Sow (and I'm leaning towards Sowe, because I think Dampier/Diop won't be available for 80+ games.

Negotiations are ongoing with Devean George and Antoine Wright. The Mavs would like to sign both. Wright would be especially good to bring back because at 6-7 and entering his fourth season in the league, Wright is maturing and the Mavs have been looking for a young, good-sized shooting guard who can defend. Wright fits that bill and with his experience playing alongside Jason Kidd for three seasons in New Jersey, he would be a nice piece to have running the wing.

I have a feeling one of Wright and George will sign somewhere else. There are only so many minutes to go around.

I am sure DG won't get crazy offer. We can match whatever on him.
I'm not really sure about AW. He keeps silence since the offseason.
Maybe he wants to leave for playing time.

I don't think any of those guys (RAT, SF...etc.) is better than him.
I won't start him before Green for sure. Maybe start before JET as well.

C - Diop / Damp / ??
PF - Dirk / Bass / ??
SF - JoHo / DG / Stack
SG - AW / Green / EJ
PG - Kidd / JET / JJB

Maybe we'd trade Stack and EJ for a decent big. Then, sign RAT, SF, and other young big.
