Dallas Trades
Josh Howard, Jerry Stackhouse, Brandon Bass, & Eddie Jones

Dallas Recieves
Amare Stoudemire & Boris Diaw

Phoenix Trades
Amare Stoudemire, Boris Diaw, & Leandro Barbosa

Phoenix Recieves
Josh Howard, Jerry Stackhouse, Brandon Bass, & Andrei Kirilenko

Utah Trades
Andrei Kirilenko

Utah Recieves
Leandro Barbosa & Eddie Jones

Just curious what everyone thought !

Well I was really asking as a Mavs fan would you first ? Second Utah has discussed trading Kirilenko many times in the past so in this scenario they would get rid of him, get a pretty good player back and get rid of a lot of salary. But my main question is from a Mavs perspective would you do this ?

As a Mavs fan, I would do this in a heartbeat.

This deal is complete unrealistic. Im sorry as im a fellow Mavs fan. But honestly, you would trade a young Dirk for a undersized PF that you have no birdrights for, an almost expiring, an expiring, and an promising player with upside(see i love Josh when hes on) but too old for much more upside

When trading for Amare you simply have to include Dirk, theres no way around

Yah, the Mavs would definitely do it.

Phoenix and Utah are the problems.

Dallas would have to do it on talent and reputation alone, but does anyone here think a frontcourt of Dirk & Amare would work? I know I don't. It would be more likely to have Amare/Dirk than Damp/Diop + Dirk/Amare and Amare/Dirk is just asking for 127 layups & dunks in a playoff series. We are also left with a bigger whole at the swing, so I KNOW if we did this trade, Dirk is on his way out.

Amare works extensively in the post while Dirk's a career outside shooter.
They compliment with each other.

Both Amare and Dirk aren't man defender.
However, Amare is strong, athetic presence in the low post.
Dirk is lengthy defender who cut into passing lane in his early career.
I see them working nicely for a running system with zone defense.

Amare is expiring. Knowing Cuban, this is a no brainer for him.
The Mavs win big in this trade. We should do it.

C - Amare - Diop / Damp
PF - Dirk - Singleton / Pops
SF - DG - Diaw / RAT
SG - AW - Green / SF
PG - Kidd - JET / JJB

I don't see the rivals trading with each other, though.
Maybe we should look for Dallas native Kurt Thomas to fill the final roster spot.

Then, we'll have:
C - Diop - Damp / KT
PF - DIrk - Bass / Singleton
SF - JoHo - AW / Green
SG - JET - Stack / EJ
PG - Kidd - McLeod / JJB

Your crazy if you wouldn't do it because you think an Amare/Dirk combo wouldn't work. I realize this is a totally hypothetical but if a Damp/Dirk post combo got us to the finals then I feel confident in this combo especially with Kidd at point would work as well. Plus in this scenario you still have Damp and Diop.

a line up of Kidd/JET/Diaw/Dirk/Amare - I would take my chances with that any day of the week.

And you need glasses if you think my statement of "Dallas would have to do it on talent and reputation alone" translate to I would not do the deal.

Amare, like Dirk, needs a defensive presense next to him. Amare >>>>>>>> Damp, but Dirk/Damp ~ Dirk/Amare when it comes to how far they will go in the playoffs.

That plain and simple. If you think otherwise, you are the crazy one my friend. Oh, and Diaw at SF scares me to death.

I realize PHX hasn't won the finals with him but you dont get to the conference finals 3 yrs in a row by luck, also if you want to talk about the defensive issues with them it's not so much Amare as it is that Nash plays no D and he never did here either, and it's not like anyone stops Tim Duncan anyways so I dont put that squarely on him either. Plus Dantoni never but an emphasis on defense. Amare had Shaq next to him and the Suns didn't get any better. That's probably more on Dantoni than anything else but I think when you could pair up guys like Dirk and Amare you can afford to give a little. Also by no means will I say Diaw is the greatest but he aint that bad and if that would be our weakest spot with those guys in the line up hey sign me up because the Mavs would still dominate.
