Cowboys or Mavericks?

Post#1 » by ben d » Thu Jul 24, 2008 9:11 pm

Who will win a title first?
All the hype is around the Cowboys this season, but I just don't know if I can trust them to not choke. On the other hand, the Mavs are in no shape to be a championship-caliber team right now. I don't think either will win this season, but teh Boys are definitely closer.
go teh mavs

You're fooling yourselves if you think the Rangers will ever win a championship. It's simply not going to happen the way Texas is. It's too hot and the ballpark is a hitter's park. They'll never have the pitching to win one.

Mavs are years away from competing unless they just really surprise.

Cowboys are stacked right now, and may just win one this year. They certainly have the talent, they just need to get it all working together.

well with the farm system they have in place if they're willing to make a trade or 2 and sign a big pitcher in free agnecy they'll be able to give it a helluva shot, they're in better shape then the mavs are i'll tell u that much

all u have to do is get to the playoffs in baseball and it's a crapshoot from there, whoever's hottest at that time usually wins

If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Well, they have the hitters to get it done, but they certainly don't have the pitching. As studcrackers said, if they can get some pitching they could certainly be contenders, but I just have doubts in their ability to actually get pitchers to come to Texas.

part of the problem lies in the ballpark, o how glorious it'd be to have a retractable roof, i mean just look at a couple weeks back when the rangers played the angels and whitesox

those 2 teams feature some of the best pitching in the league but it didnt matter when they came to face us, we played 7 games and only 1 game was played where there was less then 9 combined runs and 4 of the games the teams combined for at least 15 runs. part of it is bad pitching i realize that but there are days when the ball is just jumping off bats

a lot of the nights in arlington the ball is just jumping off the bats where pop ups turn into warning track shots and deep fly balls turn into homeruns

our pitching this year is pretty bad but having some of the worst infield defense in the league doesnt help either, along with giving up the most earned runs in the league we've given up about 60 un-earned runs. also part of the problem is whoever has been our #5 starter this year has just been god awful whether it's been jason jennings, luis mendoza, doug mathis, they either suck or just arent suited to be major league starters

but ive never been this excited as a rangers fan, JES you may think it's a joke but its not, they're a whole lot better off then the mavs are, great young talent, a top 5 farm system and pitching IS on the way and part of it's already here with guys like scott feldman and eric hurley. hell if you take out the 1st 3 weeks of the season they've had the 3rd best record in baseball. they're not going to make the playoffs this year but give it a year or 2 and they'll be contenders and them and oakland will be giving the angels a run for there money

but of course you can dismiss all that ive said because they're the rangers, dfw's running gag

Careful dfp, someone may have already traded in 5 Cowboys championships for a Western Conference Title...
