We should have kept him to begin with, but I don't see us bringing him back either.

Re: Fazekas for the 15th spot?
The last two spots are for R. Terry and Foster. If we waste a spot on a 3rd string C or PF, we are just wasting the roster spot.
C: Diop, Damp ---> Proven
PF: Dirk, Bass------> Proven
PG: Kidd, Terry---> Proven...and I think Barea is great 3rd string change of pace PG.
Proven swingman: just Howard
We need to get as many swingmen into camp as possible and let them fight it out. Maybe one is good enough to start.

Yeah, what the heck. We need another big guy, and I hear he played pretty well after the trade last year. He's young, maybe he'll develop. Every team needs a young 7 footer to waste time trying to develop dont' they?!

It won't happen. Fazekas is retricted. I don't see why they won't match his offer.
Nick's doing fine on the court so far. We may net Justin Williams or Dikembe Mutombo.

He's unrestricted because the Clips withdrew the qualifying offer!

Sign him and play him behind Dirk/Bass.
Solid third stringer American Dirk is.

No, he should the new Austin Croshere in Rick Carlisie's system.
Rick likes shooters. Nick is one of them. But I think we should invite him to training camp first.

I don't understand, some of you say that we have two roster spots left, I thought we only have one?
Dirk, Kidd, Howard, Terry, Erick, Diop, Green, Singleton, JJ Barea, Bass, Stackhouse, Wright, Jones, McLeod? To my count, that's 14. I'd love to have both Shan and Reyshawn, but I thought we had ONE roster spot left?

Eddie Jones would probably retire. That leaves us with 13 on roster.
Rashawn Terry is likely to jump to NBA as the 15th player on Mavs roster.

McLeod is unguaranteed. Judging by the way he played in summer league he shouldn't make the team.

100% agree. He can't even earn a living in Europe.

Give me Charles Rhodes over Fazekas. It is not even close.

Re: Fazekas for the 15th spot?
Dampier Diop FAZEKAS
Dirk Bass Rhodes
Howard R Terry Singleton
Green Wright Stack
Kidd J Terry JJ
notice Jones absent from this list "hint hint"
Fazekas would round out this team in an area of need and I understand what Jes is saying but hey how many wings will even get PT enough to develop and who would you play as a 3rd center? If you say Bass I think I will puke because it does him and us no good to do that. Dampier gets hurt you will be stuck without anyone to rest Diop except Dirk and Bass and that is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to take that kind of risk. Wings well lets look at the menu. Green is green so is Wright and Foster who needs seasoning in Europe. RAT Bass Rhodes and Singleton all are capable at the 3 and 4 so technically they all are wings.
At the beginning of this thread someone was saying that Center PG and PF are 2 deep and that we only have Howard at the wing and that was true but with such a large need we have to hope that our coach will see the light that giving young kids a shot is the only way to solve that problem unless you want to create even greater problems down the road taking back bad contracts just to get an older vet that can offer us positional help at the wing for a year or 2. Kind of like what we did with Kidd except some of us never could see Devin developing into a major piece and so it was a worthy risk even if it did not pan out.
Now if any of the following shows promise and develops we are assured of massive improvement and a continuance of our playoff era due to added youth.
Green Wright Foster (later on next year) Bass* Rhodes Singleton RAT Fazekas**
Green strong possibility he can play in the league as he was very young when he came into it and he should be ready to bust out this year.
Wright Another young player stuffed behind an aged vet that never got a shot to prove himself could it be his year between the 2 of them we have increased our chances at least someone does.
Singleton Big SF can help in situations when Howard is sitting and teams want to go big on us. See him as more of a defensive type but if he can do the things that Howard used to do maybe he is more.
RAT Got to find a way to get him on the team he was too good in SL to send back to Europe. Does the dirty work for sure and that may be all we need in a backup for Howard and or to allow us to move Howard to the 2.
Bass * Yes he is already good but if he is capable of playing SF some he now breaks out at a second position and becomes even more valuable and helpful to this team. If that happens I will be surprised as I do not see management letting that happen for financial reasons.
RhodesAnother Bass but one I truly believe can be a 3 and do so convincingly. Got to find a spot for him. Everyone expects Green and Wright to do better but Rhodes is coming from out of nowhere and looking really good as a PF/SF that may make last seasons find Bass much more tradeable. That could be his saving grace to make this team.
FAZEKAS The man of the thread FAZ gets cut from the clips as I predicted and now we have a chance to correct Avery's mistake. #'s wise he produced as close to perfect as you could want a rookie with limited PT to produce. The skills are there but speed and athleticism are not that is OK cause that is what all the other newbies bring to the table. Unfortunately none of them are 6'11" and nearing 250#'s while being able to be a superior rebounder and capable of shooting lights out causing many to dub him Dirk lite.
You find me another big that can do what he does and I'll choose him but for now and for the $$$ Fazekas is the best we can hope to do. If he improves over last season he will make Bass obsolete and have many asking Bass who. This is a total NBer and one that could pay off big especially if he comes in here and contributes as a low post scorer which he showed signs of becoming last season. This guy did make the all star squad in the NBDL so technically speaking he should be at least capable of manning the 3rd string center position in the NBA.
