Dallas would be in the playoffs. May not win a title, but we will be in the playoffs.
And Charlotte does not do this because Okafor is a short center and would be devistating putting a short PF next to him. Wallace fits our needs better, but there would have to be some guarantee on Wallace's health before I give Bass for him (Dirk, Howard or Kidd would be an automatic no if Wallace is the only non-filler coming back).
We can go back to the old Howard + Terry for Richardson + Wallace or forget all Wallace to Dallas trades because all other combinations is too much from Dallas or too much of a steal for Dallas.

Dont really see this trade going through. I feel fairly confident in saying they will make the playoffs but lets be honest what makes us think it's such a lock when they barely got in last year especially with the Clippers getting better I know they lost Brand & Maggatte but Baron & Camby are pretty good replacements. I still think GS will still be tough. Portland enters the mix for real this year with the yough players starting to step up plus with Oden. I still think they get in but I think it could be down to the wire again.
I'm thinking it goes down like this based of everybody's roster situtation at this point.
Hornets
Lakers
Spurs
Rockets
Jazz
Suns
Mavs
Portland/Clippers/Nuggets

That would almost be the worst thing that could happen to the Mavs...going into the POs as 7 or 8.
Its pretty sad when this team was in the top 3 of the league less than 2 seasons ago and now they are in the 7 or 8 spot of the west with their best player still in his prime, 2nd best player in his prime, and a HOF PG.
That is a nose dive and I agree, I would not say that we are automatically in. This team seems very fragile right now and could easily self destruct if things don't go well early. If our potential is only a 7 or 8, I'd rather we not make the POs so that the FO will start taking the rebuild route for this team. In fact, anything short of a championship or at least a finals appearance, should make the FO take the rebuild route next season.

The Mavs will make the playoffs.
With Carlisle's offense and defense, we will be better than PHX, LAC, DEN, POR, GSW, and probably the Spurds out of the possible playoff teams. SA is getting pretty old. They won their first championship 10 years ago. PHX is way too old with Nash and Shaq. Amare is awesome though.
Houston will be very good, but who is to say that TMAC and Yao play more than 65 games next season. They have a lot of proving to do.
GSW will not be near as good, therefore I expect them to pull off a big trade before the deadline early next calendar year. Denver will definitly not be as good without Camby. On the other hand LAC lost a huge hole with Brand's scoring. BDiddy will be good for them but he is a health concern as well.
The way I see it, Lakers, Hornets, Jazz, Rockets and Mavs and maybe Spurds will be the top 6. Everyone else will be several games back of this group.

If Avery was truly the problem then yes I could see them possibly being better than PHX. But PHX is now going to be a lot more focused on defense with Terry Porter than what they were with Dantoni. Plus Nash as an aging point guard is in my opinion a better option than our aging point guard and actually really like Kidd.
Spurs may have won their first championship 10 yrs ago but they just won their latest one just a year ago.
I think we make the playoffs but to say it's a lock because we are just so superior I think unfortunatley isn't correct, but I hope I am so wrong on that.
