Give Singleton a chance.

Post#1 » by illastrate » Wed Aug 20, 2008 6:32 pm

Clipper fan here.

I like Jumpin James Singleton. He was a fan favorite here in LA. However, he was misused by Dunleavy...he just needed minutes. Whenever he got significant minutes, it was almost always positive. If given 25 mins, he'll give you a double-double on hustle alone, plus he's got a decent jumper.

I don't know what Dallas' plans for him are, but the guy can flat out play. He just needs a chance.

Who is he going to take this 25 minutes from? Dirk or Bass? I think not. If he could play a granger role where he could have PF size/strength but guard the 3, then fine.

Dirk - 35
Howard - 32
Bass - 20
Singleton if he can play - 9 minutes left.

If Bass could play the 3 and Howard could play the 2, then the need would be greater. I just do not see where he is going to get minutes.

Singleton is not going to get any play unless they trade Bass.

We have no room for players that demand playing time, that is why we signed Singleton....2 B that 12th man when we have injuries.

Rhodes impressed me more this SL and he's bigger and can play the 3 and 4 IMHO. He's the one that has us thinking we could trade Bass for something and still be cool.

Do you mean trading Brandon Bass? What about that one?

Dallas receives:
Brandon Rush, Jeff Foster, Jamaal Tinsley, Marquis Daniels

Indiana receives:
Brandon Bass, Eddie Jones, Jerry Stackhouse, Erick Dampier

Dallas roster:
C - Diop / Foster
PF - Dirk / Singleton / RAT
SF - JoHo / DG / AW
SG - Rush / Green / MD
PG - Kidd / JET / Tinsley / JJB

Indiana roster:
C - Damp / Nesterovic / Hibbert
PF - Bass / Murphy / S.Williams
SF - Dunleavy / Baston / EJ
SG - Granger / Stack / Graham
PG - TJ Ford / Diener / Jack

Another Clipper fan here. I agree with illastrate, but you guys are right. It'll be hard for him to get minutes on this team with the depth at the forwards(which was also an issue in LA). I hope the times I get to see Dallas play that he'll get some minutes though. He's pretty exciting to watch.
