Damp's 2010-2011 Salary

quick question- i'm in a realgm game and i was wondering if anyone knows what the incentives are for damp to earn his 2010-2011 salary? I don't want to screw up my 2010 cap room because of him. Thanks

Last season is fully unguaranteed, which becomes full guaranteed if 1) Dampier is selected to play in any three NBA All-Star Games out of the 2004-2005 through the 2009-2010 seasons, or 2) Dampier plays at least 2,100 minutes in the 70 regular season games in the 2009-2010 season in which he plays the most minutes (and if he plays in less than 70 regular season games in the 2009-2010 season, then he must play at least 2,100 minutes for the entire regular season). So that's interesting.

In other words, his final year will not be guaranteed. Mavs will be dumping salary by that time.

I don't know why the agent agreed to the second clause in the first place. The team could easily sabotage his minutes.

Ya...That agent is a real dimwit..He only got Cuban to cough up 73 million for Dumpier.

Kinda off topic, but similar....
Did you know that Jason Terry's last year is only 5 mil guaranteed?
If we play him like a true 6th man in 2010-11 (less than 25 mpg) he only get $5 mil in 2011-12
If we play him like a starter in 2010-11, he gets $10.658 mil in 2011-12
No waiving or anything. He actually plays for $5 mil in 2011-12

Au contraire: $59-m; the 14k doesn't count as a result of the clause.
And yes, that's a big deal because they essentially turned down a similar (but shorter) offer from Atlanta under the pretext that this is longer when it's just cosmetic. Hell, they even turned down a sign-and-trade with the Knicks which would have paid him $10-m in the first year. For comparison's sake, the Dallas one starts at $7.5m and escalates gradually.

Nope, Damp is always a lock to start. The only reason why Diop dislodged him in 2005 is because he really started off bad (and I mean
bad) that year.
