IS THE MAVS ROSTER OK???

Post#1 » by chrisjacob » Sat Oct 25, 2008 1:20 pm

what in the world is our roster?? we are just hoping for the new kids to explode??what is that?can that help us in winning the season and the playoffs??we all talk about green,wright,williams,bass,singleton...can they be the one who can help the team? i think dallas needs a player that is near an allstar player..to help in the need time, dirk and josh are great player but have you seen some of the past games of the mavs last season?they all gone in the 4th quarter all the star from them is gone everyforth quarter..havent you noticed that? kidd all he can do is pass and make play?terry- you cannot always count on him,dampier-weak center,-diop-cant score,-stackhouse-old man who hopes to be lucky make hes shot every day...can dallas get players that can help them in the most need time, who are not nervous take and make shot in a game..

other teams are getting stronger with their rosters and in their divisions....can the mavs win it with this roster??
im hoping that the mavs win a championship.....

You're right CJ, this roster is not a championship team. They are banking on one of the signings being another Bass this year...and Bass improving on his play from last year. Stack, JET and JHo, 2 of the 3 need to go for a good to great rotation guy (good to great depends on the 2 you pick from the 3) playing a needed spot.

I personally would like to package JET and Stack (and maybe one of our youngs for filler) for a good, known SG. We'd have to bite the bullet on our backup PG spot and either pick someone up off waivers or go with JJB (not advisable). However, that is what we would need to shake up this group enough and hope that they come back together to play.

I believe a lot of last year was giving up on Avery, but I also think that there was a lot of giving up on each other as a team that can make it happen.

LMAO and how do you expect us to get a borderline allstar without losing Dirk, Josh, or Kidd? Its impossible and losing any of the big 3 leaves us with a hole in our roster... If free agency was what youre waiting for for Dallas to get that borderline all star- keep in mind that Europe can offer much more money than most NBA teams can, and Dallas has nothing more than the MLE to offer anyone.

I'm fine with the rotation right now. Not nervous about the losses we are taking in the pre-season because of the way we distribute our minutes which is perfectly fine right now. During the season you are looking at a rotation of

Kidd
Wright (Assuming he gets the starting job)
Howard
Nowitzki
Dampier

Rotation off the Bench:
Terry
Bass
Diop
Stack/Green (Don't know about this one, I really prefer Green over stack right now)

I like this 9-man rotation, I like Wright's defense and youth in the starting 2 spot. We might've not made the moves we wanted in the off-season, but with Carlisle and the newly integrated youth in Green & Wright (also Williams is a prospect) in swap for shipping Juwan Howard & Eddie Jones out. This year its now or never in terms of J-Kidd. I'm ready!

Absolutely. Just relax and enjoy the game then. It's uncontrollable.

I think so, but we don't have the piece to net one without moving ours.
...Jet has negative value among the board.
...Stack won't get you more than decent but expensive role player.
...Bass's not valuable enough to get you one. Not to say he's unrestricted.
...Damp? Somebody's going to dump contract on you without any all-star.
...Kidd can get you one diminishing all-star. But It's not going to help either.
...Dirk? Come on. We won't get fair value in return.

Athletic players can improve the running system. The Old Men can't run too much. Look at Pheonix, you find the clue. That's the point to count on young promising players to run. And we need some of them in the rebuilding plan.

Chris - although I completely agree with what you are trying to say, I have to agree with some of the others that it isn't realistic. The Mavs should have been going after a player like that a few seasons ago when they had more trade pieces (draft picks, young players, expiring contracts, etc...).

I basically gave up on this roster about the middle of last season. The trade for Kidd was simply one last desperate move that didn't and won't work out. That is why I thought the Mavs should have started the rebuilding process this past offseason. Although I'm still a dedicated fan and will watch every game, my expectations and enthusiasm are extremely low because my thoughts of this team are exactly like yours.

The reality is that Memphis is the only team that seems to be willing to give players away for nothing. The problem is they have no players left to give away.
