Patrick Ewing Jr.

Post#1 » by Blind0188 » Mon Oct 27, 2008 7:30 pm

The Knicks released rookie Patrick Ewing Jr. on Monday to get down to the maximum 15 players for Wednesday's start of the NBA season against the Miami Heat at the Garden.

Ewing could wind up with the Knicks' new NBDL team in Reno if he is not signed by another team in the coming days.

"I'll weigh my options first before I commit to one scenario or another," he said before getting the bad news from team president Donnie Walsh after practice. "I'll sit down with my agent, discuss possibilities and go from there."

Ewing Jr. came to the Knicks last Aug. 29 in a deal with Houston for the rights to Frederic Weis, who was drafted by the Knicks in 1999 with a No. 1 pick. Originally drafted in the second round last June by the Kings, Ewing Jr. played sparingly in only three games, averaging 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Ewing's release means that the Knicks are holding onto high-priced bench player Jerome James and Anthony Roberson, who also makes guaranteed money. James gets $13 million for this season and next, while Roberson was signed to an $800,000 deal based off his play in the Las Vegas summer league.

James signed a five-year, $29-million deal in August of 2005, but due to injuries and conditioning problems has played only 88 out of a possible 246 regular-season games since joining the team.

Do you think Dallas should take a look acquiring P.J. or keep the roster at 14 for now since we already have Gerald Green?

Yeah, I was surprised that NYC cut him though, that's all I've been hearing out of New York is that
there is a new Ewing around, oh well perhaps P.J. the second coming of Patrick Ewing in Orlando, or Sea... err, the first Ewing to Oklahoma? :D

Somehow the decision btwn Malik Rose & Patrick Ewing Jr. fell in Rose's favor.

I would not want Rose on my team.
