Thunder Look To Move Players

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Nov 10, 2008 4:47 pm

Earl Watson - Another year left at just over 6 million
Chris Wilcox
Joe Smith
Nick Collison - Another two years left at just over 6 million.

Sam Presti (The Thunders GM) is a very difficult GM to deal with. He's normally seeking draft picks with any trade, but if we take on a lengthy contract from him, we might be willing to package a couple.

Would like to see Earl Watson come to Dallas and play 20 minutes a night as the backup PG. The probem is I have a feeling Collison would have to go with him.

I personally like both Nick and Earl. The problem is, I don't think it's worth taking on a combined salary of 13 million between the two per year, and OKC would need to compensate us a great deal with draft picks. On the other hand the two would give us some depth off the bench. Jerry Stackhouse would need to be involved on our end.

Nick Collison would be great here. He can rebound & score and while his man2man defense might not be great, I really havent seen Diop play that well this season. If Dallas was trying to win this season, Collison would be a much welcomed addition to put at the center position. Earl Watson has no real place on this team with Terry/Kidd here.

Your expecting potential stars and it's not going to happen. We lack the depth that's needed to make a serious run at the playoffs and we need to look beyond this season at how we need to handle things while Eric and Jason are still under contract. Earl's far from being a star, but if we don't offer Jason a extension, do you really trust Jason Terry or Juan Barea at the 1 as the starter?

Both Nick and Earl would help this team. Especially Nick!

Unless a player like Redd, VC, Marion, or Mike Miller becomes available and the most we have to give up is Bass and has-beens (Stack, Terry, Damp, George, etc....), this team should be a seller, not a buyer going forward.

I'm actually serious when I say that I do not want to see us win any games until this FO is committed to making drastic changes one way or another. Relying heavily on Stack, Terry, and our centers is definitely not going to cut it...especially come PO time if that is even possible.

By trading for Earl or Nick it fills holes for next season. I don't see how we can win at this point with our current roster and the Thunder players definitely don't put us over the top. Unless a miracle happens I don't see us having much success until we are free of Eric Dampier and Jason Terry's contracts.

Another reason to seek a trade with the Thunder is to see if Sam would be willing to include any draft picks. If he's not, I say we move on.

Key is not what pieces are available, buit what they expect us to give up. I don't see any of those available players being better suited for us than our big 3.
