The state of Texas might be where Stephon Marbury lands

The state of Texas might be where Stephon Marbury lands if he can complete a buyout with the Knicks, but don't expect to see him in the Spurs' silver and black, as noted in Box 4.

If we trade for him, fine, but I don't like the idea of signing him after a buyout with New York.

Thoughts?

I don't understand your thinking. Is it because you would like to get rid of 20 mil in payroll off this team? If we could sign him without any trade we basically get him for free. At this point I will take anything that might make this team better.

can't see donnie walsh trading steph for guys with contracts after 2010 and giving up on the FA pool.
plus buyout talks are already in progress so a trade would be very unlikely.

i think steph could help at least off the bench.

A trade most likely won't happen and I understand that. If that's the case, why should we exactly sign Stephon? Do you really view him as a positive addition to the team? I don't, that's why I only want him, if we can get some cap relief out of it.

Jamaal Tinsley has requested being bought out and I would prefer us to pursue him over Stephon.

Tinsley > Marbury

talentwise and contractwise

If Marbury wants to play for a contender I really doubt he would consider Dallas.

Ok lets sign him and play him as a backup PG. JJ is too green to play full minutes.

what

Marbury is a multiple all-star, 20-10 Olympian who's a victim of a trivia ("hey guys did u no dat every team he left becum gud???") that gets thrown around more often than any other misleading NBA factoid. Tinsley's career accomplishments on the other hand involves injuring a random bodypart whenever he plays 5 games.

Granted, Marbury is not as good as he used to but as a backup PG for cheap, it's a no-brainer.

This team needs a backup PG where the offense does not disappear after Kidd goes out. Tinsley or Marbury would fill that void but I would prefer Marbury if he were signed as a FA. That way if he pulls what he did in NY you can just say bye-bye and only be out this season where as Tinsley would be here for a while and the Mavs could be stuck with him for awhile.

Spurs don't want him and they just signed a guard from the D-League

I know that our team mascot JJ Barea had a decent game last night however this team really really needs a good backup for Kidd. And isn't Marbury the type of guy who can create his own shot. Don't we desperately need that?

I am for Cuban and Donnie blowing this thing up. But it does not appear to me that they are willing to do that. And if they are not going to blow it up then we may as well try and do things like get Marbury and see if he can help us.
