Front Office Working on something

The Mavs have engaged in “casual’’ conversations involving the Clippers’ Chris Kaman, the Bobcats’ Gerald Wallace, the Knicks’ Stephon Marbury, their own Jerry Stackhouse and many others, NBA sources tell DallasBasketball.com. Additionally, and on the record, Mavs GM Donnie Nelson doesn’t deny such activity, telling DB.com that “we’ve been busy in talking to everybody, looking at everything, trying to stay on top of any opportunity.’’
I'm keeping my fingers, toes, eyes, arms, legs, and teeth crossed for Kaman or Wallace, or both.

Please make it happen FO; especially if we can keep Howard in the move. Lets hope this doesn't stay just a rumor.

Lets hope they don't make a stupid decision like Howard straight up for Wallace's 5 year, 4 cucussion deal. If Kidd leaves, I'd rather keep Howard's team option in '10 than possibly face another Darius Miles, Raef LaFrentz, Shawn Bradley type of cap hit for players that can't play anymore.
Maybe a 3 way:
Bass, Dampier, Charlotte 1st to Clippers
Howard to Charlotte
Kaman, Wallace to Dallas
Kaman - Diop
Nowitzki - Singleton
Wallace - George - Williams
Green - Wright - Stack
Kidd - Terry - Barea
Whatever the trade, I hope it is an
upgrade trade, not another take advantage of the Mavs trade like last year's mid season trade.
I've been saying it for a while and i will repeat it, the talks surrounding Marbury involves Terry, Stack and filler (George, Wright, Barea). I was told by several fans that "there is no way NY takes Terry's contract" and I'm sure you guys read the huge posts I put down explaining why they would and the reason why Marbury has not been bought out yet. I may be completely wrong, but we'll have to wait til Dec 15th to find out.
Edit
My explination of why they would do it, along with the time stamp is on these two threads:

The Clips could be an interesting trade partner. Baron is turning 30 early next year, but they rely heavily on a young guy like Al Thornton. If we could turn Dirk into a Kaman-Thornton-Gordon package, I'd be pretty happy with that.

I can agree, but I think Cuban would rather Kidd, Stack, Bass for Kaman, Davis, Mobley

Dallas Morning News has article about how Stackhouse's agent is looking for a trade because Stackhouse wants more playing time. Please!!!! let this happen. If he is off the team then Carlisle will not feel obligated to give him some playing time.

If we can trade Stack, Wright, and George for G.Wallace then we should try to do a Kidd, Bass, and Williams for Baron, Mobley, and Kaman. Maybe we could get Marbury still..WHOAH. Somehow something wouldn't work.
Davis/Marbury/Barea
Mobley/Green/Terry
Howard/Wallace
Dirk/???DIOP???
Kaman/Damp

No disrespect but some of you Dallas fans are delusional and really overvalue your players and what they could bring in return. Dirk has a extremely high trade value but you guys wouldnt/shouldnt want to part with him after that there is a dropoff...Howard has some value but after his off season stupidness that has taken a hit too...Im a Bobcats fan and I saw the rumor on the boards today but I dont put much stock in any of them, I just dont see what you guys could give up and get a Kaman not to overvalue him but he is a double double young guy and I just dont see what you give up return to get him with it being a pretty big trade...On to Crash, im positive the idea of Stackhouse & filler wouldnt get it done but again I will try to not overvalue him either and its more than obvious my 'Cats need some inside help and we did try to go after Diop this past offseason so what do you think of a deal centered around Crash for Diop & Bass?...dont know if the salaries work and Im sure my fellow 'Cats fans wouldnt like it but if management has made up their minds that there going to trade him we get big man help by playing Diop at 5 & Emeka at 4 with Bass backing up Emeka or subbing for Diop and moving Emeka back to the 5 spot....thats the only scenario I could see working at all between these 2 teams and that would only be if the 'Cats feel they have to trade Crash and cant get anything better.....

Every team over values thier own players. The Mavs could only do a Diop/Bass for Wallace trade if they had another trade in the works to get a Center back. We can not give up two guys who actually get time at Center for a guy who could not play any Center. I think if we could find another backup Center in a seperate or 3 way trade then I would do Diop/Bass for Wallace.

man i posted in another thread that dunleavy aint feelin Bdiddy anymore and LAC is not high on Kaman anymore
and NYK wants to get rid of randolphs salary and bobcats want wallace out
and stackhouse wants out of dallas...i dont know about kaman and bdiddy together...
what do you guys think
do you think its possible that near the all star break if the clippers are hittin rock bottom that they would do this deal?
Kaman, Bdiddy, Mobley
FOR
Kidd, Damp, Stackhouse...or would we have to add bass as well?
MAVZ:
this way we get mobley expiring so we can try somethin in the 2010 free agency and someone to mentor wright, williams and green cause stackhouse doesnt want to but at the same time can still play legit mins in the nba
Kaman is pretty sound offensively and defensively...his contracts runs out in 2011 not so bad...
Bdidddy is the catch tho he will be 30 years old this April but he can still play and be a TOP 5 player in this league if and when healthy so hopefully we can keep him healthy
Clippers:
Damps last year on his contract is 2010-2011 but... it can be voided if he doesnt get an allstar appearance in his stint with the 6 year lifetime of the contract...so ya basically his contract expires next year hes not even on the ballot this year
Stackhouse is expiring i dont care what they do with him
Kidd expires this year and with him in the line up it will allow thornton and gordon to become scorers
and if we givet them bass they have potential star at power forward whom is also expiring...
now that i think about i dunno if that trade will work...lol...we might need more teams to help or somethin but i dont know why some of you guys want Kaman so bad i dont think hes that good at all

Howdy everyone. Long time reader (like two years), first time poster. I know this is probably unrealistic, but I could see the FO shaking things up soon because of the rocky start. I'm not exactly sure how all the salaries and everything would pan out, but what about a Dampier/Bass for Kaman seeing as how the Clips could use a PF. Following that trade we could do a Howard/Stack for Wallace/Carrol. That would leave us with:
PG: Kidd, Barea
SG: Terry, Wright, Carroll
SF: Wallace, Green
PF: Nowitzki, Singleton
C: Kaman, Diop
Well, let the rip session begin.

I posted that exact same trade with a Tim Thomas dump for Stack on the trade forum and was laughed off. I think (weeks ago) that is more realistic than they can imagine, but I also think the Clippers could get better offers for Kaman as well.

I don't think the salary matches. If you take out Damp and add Bass, it will. If you add Bass-Tim Thomas swap it will. But the quoted trade does not work salary wise.

The Clippers arent trading Kamen for cap space, so all the trades where we rip them off for nothing arent going to happen. Kamen is still young and signed to a reasonable contract. The Clippers suck so yea all their players will be in the rumors, but dont think they come easy. They really dont have any bad contracts (all their average players expire in 2010).
I think they best we could ask for from the Clippers is Stack for Mobley.
Doesnt ruin our 2010 cap space and gives us a much better scorer/defender at the SG spot. Then I would try to solidify the SF/C positions because both are lacking. I would easily do something like Howard/Bass/Diop/fillers for Wallace/Okafor. I dont know that the Bobcats do it, but I think we would be significantly better. Bobcats would probably do Wallace/Howard straight up, they wouldnt do Diop/Bass for Okafor, but I wonder if the difference between Howard/Wallace could make te difference for Okafor. Maybe wishful thinking.
STARTER: Kidd-Mobley-Wallace-Dirk-Okafor
BENCH: Terry-Green-Wright-George-Dampier

I'd even settle for that. I, also, highly doubt Dallas has the pieces and/or enough desire to rip the team apart (like one poster suggested with Howard) for Kaman. He is an upgrade to Dampier, but not big enough of an upgrade to do that.
