Marbury one Steph from gone

Stephon Marbury's refusal to play for the injury-depleted Knicks for the second time in six days will likely mean the end to his Knicks' career sooner rather than later.
According to a team source, Marbury will either be ordered to stay home indefinitely or released. The move could come as early as this weekend, which suggests that the guard will likely be asked to leave the team until he is either traded or a buyout is reached.
"Something is going to happen," said the source. "This has got to end."
The same source indicated that Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni considered sending Marbury home Wednesday after the veteran point guard declined the opportunity to play Wednesday night against the Pistons.

I would take him for vet min so that Terry can become expindable (assuming he is not rusty). Right now, Terry is not expindable with Barea being the only other PG.

I would be happy to have him for the vet minimum. He may have something to prove and as a backup to Kidd instead of Barea that would be much better for this team.

Marbury may have a bad attitude and work ethic, but id still take him over Barea any day of the week.

Stephon would be a terrific addition to this team and frankly, just what we need. He came into camp in tremendous shape and ready to play. It's just bizarre what's happened since.

He is what you call a bad teammate. he leet his teammates down for two consecutive times and i think as high he is on himself he wouldn't accept the backuprole behind kidd.
he sure wants to play 20+ minutes at least.
let him go to another team and destroy them

I would give him a chance at the veteran minimum and not hesitate to immediately cut him if he shows signs of becoming a locker room cancer . He would be a very nice addition if he doesn't go wheels off.

i agree with you. He won't accept the bench role with Mavs unless team like Boston takes him

If he is going to play for vet min, it will probably be for a team like the Lakers or Celts.
Dallas makes no sense for him with Kidd and Terry.
I still don't understand all of the hate surrounding Barea on this board. He's the only player on this team who plays with guts and passion and understands that driving to the basket is the only way to win in this league. I'd rather watch his hustle style of play than watch everyone stand around while Dirk holds the ball for 8 seconds before he shoots an off-balance fade away...god that is boring and painful as hell to watch.

steph would be a great get for dallas...he's got a contract to play for, and it's in his best interest to prove he's worth big money both on the court and in the locker room. I feel he's going to be as effective the remainder of this year as he's ever been in his entire career.

I just totally dislike his game. Yes, he goes to the basket, but he very rarely draws fouls while doing so, nor is he usually successful scoring inside. 41% on "close" shots, 54% on jumpers. He draws fewer fouls per 48 than JET, and JET shoots 61% on those close shots. I use those stats to say that driving to the basket is a negative for Barea, IMO. JET, on the other hand, should drive to the basket more, which he is this year. Howard is too. Dirk isn't, though.

I don't dislike Barea as a 3rd string PG. I dislike Barea as the primary PG and Terry our primare SG. Terry should be the backup 1/2.

Barring the "ridiculous," according to New York Knicks president Donnie Walsh, Stephon Marbury's status will be settled Monday. Some would say that ridiculous is what the Marbury situation has already become, but Walsh made no promises Saturday that the stalemate will come to an agreeable end when he, Marbury, and Marbury's attorney, Hal Biagas of the NBA Players Association, meet on Monday. Walsh said team owner James Dolan had given him no specific instructions on how to proceed. "Unless it's something ridiculous, I think he would say 'Do what you think is best.' That's what he's told me." Asked to define "ridiculous," Walsh replied: "I don't know."
