Talks of Marbury growing?

During yesterday's game against the Lakers the floor analyst...(can't think of her name) said that Dallas has very strong interest in acquiring Stephon Marbury when he gets bought out. She said this information came from an extremely reliable sorce from the Dallas Mavericks. Cuban seems to be a HUGE fan of Marbury and personally i think we will get him if (or should i say when) he gets bought out. I would love it if we could sign him. For one thing he will be of major use as a backup for Kidd and even a starter at the SG position. We could use some extra points on the board and someone who isn't scared to take the ball to the hoop. Now i know people don't want him here because of his bad attitude but i beleive the change of scenery will take care of that one. According to the analysts last night He would most likely come to us for the Vet Min and that would be awesome. this made me think why wouldn't he go to a team where he could get waaaay more minutes with if he plans on signing for the vet min. All i know is that i would LOOOOOOOVE to have Starbury in our lineup preferably starting at the 2 so Terry can continue to work his wonders as a combo guard. So what do y'all think...Yay or Nay on Marbury to dallas why and why not and if yes where do you want him in the lineup.

Mavsfan41, i agree with you and i have been wanting Marbury here since i heard he could be bought out. He could get us 10-15 points on some nights and he brings that toughness and slashing ability we need. Now i would like him to be Kidd's backup and have Terry at the 2 but i could see Rick putting Marbury in the starting 5 on some nights depending on the matchups. The reason i see Marbury changing his outbursts is becauseof our Hall of Fame point guard. I think with Kidd here Marbury will learn what makes a team go. Kidd is the best leader in the game and that will help Marbury out ALOT.

Yes to Marbury. The guy still has a lot left in the tank, and coming to a team that needs guard help could really help him and the team. Definately worth a roster spot, and even if hes a pain in the ass and a complete failure, we can just pull a Mike D'antoni and not let him play. Its only the vet minimum anyway

Se never said "when he gets bought out" She said the Mavs are monitoring the situation and Dallas has stong interest.
I did not doubt a possible 3 way....
Terry to Philly (or some other contender)
Marbury + Roberson to Dallas
Miller (or some other expiring) + Stack + Barea to NY
If Dallas is serious about 2010, that is a good trade. BUT, it has to happen Dec 15th because of Barea and Roberson (fillers to match salary). I think that is the reason why Stack and Marbs have not been bought out yet.

That is a horrible trade. So we get Marbury but we give up Terry? No freaking way. If Marbury wants to come over for the Vet minimum I think we could almost let him start along with Kidd. That would be a very explosive starting team. That way we keep Terry right where his as our 6th man.
I am happy to take Marbury for very little or Stack and Barea but there is no way in hell I would give up Terry to get Marbury.
Anyone who is putting all thier eggs in the 2010 free agent class basket is an idiot. When all is said and done most of those guys will stay right where they are. And Dallas may be mentioned as a tool to get what they want but I don't believe that any of those big name guys are going to come here.

I take Miller over Marbury all day.
And that is the tough part about all this Marbury talk: He hasnt played for a long time now and NY didnt even allow him to train IIRC. They basically kept him away from the team and left him rot at home. I'm not sure he can come in here and produce right away. He may not even outplay Barea (who is not that bad as people think here).

Said it once I will say it again should Cuban sign Quitbury he will destroy this team. The guy is the ultimate cancer and will damage what this team has built. I would rather have Barea (although he is playing better on the offensive end) trying to play than watch that team killer complain about lack of minutes.

I agree with the Miller over Marbury responces. I'd do that and hope for a buyout of Marbury.
Kidd - Miller - Barea
Marbury - Wright - Green
Howard - George - Williams - Stack
Nowitzki - Bass - Singleton
Dampier - Diop

Marbury had a decent pre-season.
21 MPG
8.6 PPG (50% FG, 30% 3pt, 83% FT)
3.6 APG.....1.4 TOs PG.....2.5 Ast-TO ratio
1.3 RPG
0.43 SPG
Not as good as Terry except ast, TO and Ast-to ratio, but for vet min, if we can turn Terry's 4 year deal into Miller's expiring, I would concider that a decent replacement for Terry.
Miller = $10,333,334
Marbury = $1,015,977 (pro-rated from 10+ year vet min of $1,262,275)
In fact, I would absolutly love to turn Jason Terry's 4 year $33+ mil deal into Andre Miller & Stephon Marbury's 1 year $11.35 mil

Starbury is good only for the vet minimum. He needs to be cut quickly if he causes any trouble whatsoever. If he wants any more money at all, pass. He does have talent that could be an asset to the bench if he will accept that role.

Would love him on the Mavs! He would work because of Coach Carlisle, and Jason Kidd. Marbury and Terry coming off the bench is nasty.

thought about it for two weeks now and still dont know if it would benefit or hurt us.
at least we would have to cut him as soon as he makes problems, so I guess for the vet min it would be ok. but I'm still not sure...

If Barea plays like he has the last couple of games consistently, we might not need Marbury.

I thnk Barea is better for team chemistry even if Starbury>>Barea. Are Starbury's stats going to be enough to make up for the disruption his addition will cause?
