Why for Charlotte?
Because the Bobcats gets the inside presence they are looking for in Diop and a young talent (Lee) to pair with Okafor. They also rid of Mohammed and get a expiring (Rose).
Why for Dallas?
The Mavs gets the right piece to contend (Richardson). A line up with Kidd-Richardson-Howard-Nowitzki-Dampier plus Terry as 6th could kill any team.
Why for New York?
NY are searhing for a vet G whose contract expires before 2010. Stack is the man (reports say so). They lose Lee but gets Bass who will not demand as much money as Lee will.
Thoughts?

I would do that trade without a second thought.

Okay, let me start by saying I could care less about Stack and I like Jason Richardson, but there is no way I do this deal. Our lineup afterwards would look like this:
Dampier - ??????? - Mohammed
Nowitzki - Singleton
Howard - George - Williams
Richardson - Green
Kidd - Terry - Barea
Terry has been playing better than Richardson this year and Barea is showing that the 2 PG backcourt can work. I don't know if having Richardson is any upgrade to our backcourt if minutes are taken away from those two. What I do know is Nazr sucks and is one of the few centers I can say is far worse than Diop. Adding Brandon Bass to that should be unthinkable.
There are several trades with Charlotte that would make sense for us, but this one just is not it. We don't trade away our depth at our thinnest positions to increase the depth at our thickest. Looking at this trade, the 1st thing I would do is remove the Nazr - Diop swap. making it look more like this:
Richardson for Stack, Wright, Bass
then I switch Bass to another guard or swingman (Barea, George, Williams). However, at that point I don't think Charlotte would do it.
Which brings me back to the only concieveable trade that may be compromised: Howard + Stack + Bass (or Williams) for Richardson + Wallace....then we would look like this:
Dampier - Diop
Nowitzki - Williams (or Bass) - Singleton
Wallace - Wright - George
Richardson - Terry - Green
Kidd - Barea - (Terry)

C'mon!!!. Are u the same guy that a few weeks before said that we can go with Barea at our backup PG? Barea is good, but Richardson are GREAT. Of course JR are a huge upgrade of what we have at SG. Don't dude it.

Have u seen the production of Diop this season? Do u know how long are Diop's contract? When we sign him las summer i feel good, cause i have confindence in Diop's hability, but now i can see that he sucks in Carslisle's sistem and his contract too. Mohammed is worst than Diop (i know) but, at least, he can be a good trade bait in february 2010.

I like this trade too, but i prefer kee our actual core (Kidd-JH-Dirk) plus Terry.

The original trade does thin the bench but I would have to do it just for the strength of the starting lineup. The Mavs would have to dust the cob webs off a free agent center or have Dirk play a few minutes at backup center. The front court without Bass would be spread thin but I still would take the trade and hope Singleton stays healthy and Nazr can at least play 10 - 12 minutes without hurting the team.
Truthfully I will be surprised to see any trade other than maybe Stackhouse for garbage this season.

I have no clue what you are trying to say here. I have always said and have not strayed from the fact that Barea is a great 3rd string PG and a decent 2nds string PG. My point was that Terry has outplayed Richardson this year. Giving Richardson Terry's minutes can be concidered a downgrade. But if it makes it easier to understand, let me say it this way: if Richardson were to come in, the talent portion of our outgoing trade needs to be Terry or Barea or swingmen, not Bass and center depth.

Diop is tons better than Nazr. We can use him while waiting for him to be trade bait. Hell, on the rebuilding Mavs team he may be like Ben Wallace was, but right now, Diop does not have the confidense or swagger because of inconcistant minutes. And Damp - Singleton - Dirk frontcourt just is not cutting it.
This trade leaves us without being able to rebuild in 2010 (extending our playoff losses) and without improving us THIS YEAR.

Didn't we learn from last season that to trade the depth of bigs will guarantee us failure in playoffs?
Even tho we are weak at SG, we still have many options for every game, we should focus on that only. Do not try to sovle a problem and create a bigger one.
No to this trade.
