Trade Winds Just Keep Blowing

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Dec 13, 2008 11:47 pm

• I don't get the impression that Milwaukee's Michael Redd is being shopped. I do get the impression that the Bucks will happily listen to Redd proposals if the phone rings, with two years and more than $35 million left on our beloved lefty's contract after this season and with Richard Jefferson arriving in Brewtown in June with a contract in the same ballpark. "I think they think they're the same team at this point with [Redd] or without him," one rival-team official said of the Bucks.

• Sources say Charlotte remains highly confident that it can follow up the Richardson deal by finding a taker for versatile swingman Gerald Wallace, despite the prospect of three seasons at $9.5 million each left on Wallace's contract beyond this season.

• Continue to disregard any suggestion you hear that the Mavericks might soon relent and elect to buy out veteran swingman Jerry Stackhouse, even though he hasn't played since Nov. 14. With his contract only partially guaranteed for $2 million next season, Stackhouse essentially carries an expiring salary of $7 million, and thus remains Dallas' No. 1 trade chip. The Mavs, then, won't consider buying him out until they have exhausted every opportunity to trade him … and maybe not even then.

Unless Indiana is in a three team deal, i dont think Dallas makes any moves. We only deal with the Pacers. I predict they will buy out Stack and we can watch again all teams around us getting better.

Diop, Stack and Bass for Sheed and Afflalo? The Mavs would have to create a spot at the 5 for Sheed. Possible but why would the Pistons want to move him after acquiring Iverson? I just can't see them taking on salary when their top two paid players are expiring?

they also have maxiell and amir johnson so they really dont have any need fpr bass.
they also have a good SF so howard would be of no interest as well.
they wont add diop because of this long term deal althogh hes not making max type money

Dallas trades Diop, Stack + Howard for
Detroit's choice of Hamilton(Dump Salary) OR Prince(Assuming Detroit thinks JHo>Prince) + Wallace

Thoughts?? I like Prince better, but if Detroit is looking for 2010 cap space Hamilton would be a better option. Diop's salary should not keep Detroit from a FA in 2010.

I just think Detroit would be "giving away" Sheed for nothing in this deal. Stack+Diop<<<Sheed, but I like it on Mavs side by only slightly downgrading Howard and gaining badly needed scoring at the 5.

If Sheed is coming in, Dampier is leaving.

i don't know why you like Redd a lot... Redd only makes us softer, i even want Maggette over Redd. He is tougher and likes to drive to the paint all night long.

Sheed doesn't play in the low post on offense. He plays outside. and is effective from there. How do we make that work with Dirk? There wouldn't be anybody on the block offensively unless one of them changed their game. Especially if we got rid of Dampier.

Don't get me wrong. There's a lot to like about having Sheed here. Toughness, cockiness, a legitimate 2-way center. Just seems like either he or Dirk would have to change their offensive game to accomodate the other, and they've both been around a little too long to expect that to happen.

Oh, I totally agree with you sweet daddy. I don't think there is any interest in Sheed to Dallas. I think that is all made up in some Detoit writer's wet dream to get Dirk. If Dallas has any interest in Sheed, I would be completely surprised unless they dump all their long term salary.

like u all said, there is no interest in sheed.
he simply doesnt fit next to dirk.
is it possible to somehow "steal" prince without giving up dirk or howard?
then trade howard for a big (kaman, okafor)..

The team has to do something. We are going to be a boarderline playoff team if we just sit idle. I hope that Cuban and Donnie are not satisfied with that. If we could give up Howard and get Okafor I would be a very happy man.

I think Okafur would look great next to Dirk, man, but I don't think there's a chance of getting him.
That trade doesn't make any sense for Charlotte. Their weakness is their bigs (they just signed Juwan Howard to help up front, for goodness sakes), and they have a pretty decent group of swing men. They would never do it. Besides, Okafur is a BYC player and it's hard to find anything that works for him trade-wise.

I agree that we need to do something, though. Low post scorer and a starting sg is still our biggest need IMO. Wish I knew how we could obtain either without gutting the core players. The obtainable guys are flawed (Maggette, Ricky Davis, Eddie Curry, etc.), and I'm not sure they really make us contenders.

I tell you, folks. Watching us wearing our arses for hats last night at the hands of ... Denver? ... left me feeling a little down this morning.

Denver's been playing well though. I think GSW would be an ideal trade partner for a SG. They have a boat load of them, and even Nelson can't play four of them on the same floor for very long.
