His obsession with playing Barea more than 16 minutes a night. The fact that Williams needs to be playing in the 15-18 minute range. Green not playing because of his "lack of defense" yet I watch a 3 guards with Dirk and Bass get killed on the defensive end on a consistant basis. Diop playing little to none when the guy should be on the floor for at least 12 minutes a night. Than the headbanger of them all George playing 30+ minutes a night when he is shooting 1-9 and getting beat like a drum on defense(I thought they fired Avery?).
Just my rant but anyway am I the only one who thinks this or is this the best the Mavs have to offer? Because right now I am seeing even with Josh in the lineup an 7 to 8 seed at best with a quick and I mean quick 1st round exit for this team. Thoughts?

Re: My irritations with Carlislie
Once Howard gets back into the starting line up and everything gets back to normal things will change i think Damp and Diop will begin to split minutes again. With the way Barea is playing there is no reason for us not to play him; however once wright can start again barea will back kidd up and terry will back wright up.. I still expect them to use the 3 guard offense some though from time to time. Unfortunately Carlilse beleives that georges defense is better than anything Green can bring us. I disagree with this because Green just seems to be such a spark off the bench. I'd love to see this line up when our starters are resting.
1 Barea
2 Terry
3 Green/George
4 Bass
5 Diop
with this line up out there Barea Terry and Bass are good offensive sparks but i think that Green would bring that extra UMPH!! IDK though everything will be different once J-HO gets back into his groove.

Re: My irritations with Carlislie
I agree.
1) Barea should be a 10-15 MPG guy; not 30+ and as PG only (Kidd is utterly useless when Barea is out there and I prefer Kidd)
2) Dirk at center....yes, his rebound numbers are up because of it, but Damp + Diop should = 48 except for the rare occurance where offiense is a much higher comodity, then a Terry-Green-Howard-Bass-Dirk lineup is needed.
3) George getting any minutes at all; We know what we got with him and it will not help us any in the trade depatment or the post season department. All of his minutes should be going to Wright, Williams, Green.
I disagree with Mavsfan41 because 1) Wright is already able to play and should be starting and 2) When Howard gets back, Diops minutes will be reduced even further.
After the trade deadline, I will worry about this more. As of now, I am assuming there is some plan behind closed doors that explains what we see on the court.

Re: My irritations with Carlislie
I think Carlisle is doing the best he can with the players he has right now. Carlisle has shown the willingness to adjust unlike Avery. I don't think his current rotation is permanent, thats just what is working right now. It does bother me some that the only young player that is being developed is Barea. I would have liked to see Green, Wright or Williams develop also, which still may happen later. Diop needs help before he is not a liability on the floor. He needs a full time big man coach to develop some kind of offensive game so he can stay on the floor. Right now even if Diop is not guarded, he still can't score. In hindsight, I have to wonder what the Mavs would look like if they kept Devin Harris and our draft picks , Avery Johnson, and Avery got his rumored wish of trading Dirk for an "Avery style" power forward....just a thought...not a wish.

Carlisle even ran out Barea/Terry/Kidd/Dirk/Damp the other night.

Re: My irritations with Carlislie
just few thoughts:
1) George can defend Melo sized players, but not someone who is quick like Kobe. Wright did a better job defending Kobe. So i don't think our lineup has a stable defensive player like Bowen or Bell
2) I am getting tired of seeing Bass+Dirk on the floor together. We should trade Bass before his value drops which is happening right now i think
3) Barea is getting better, but i think it is just a spark. In playoffs, he can do nothing.
4) We need VanExel type of player to be mentally tougher
5) Carlislie is ok. above average.
6) I say we will miss the playoffs if there is no major lineup change
7) I start thinking that we need a better GM

^ I agree with points 1,2,3,4,5, and 7. Not #6. I still think this team can and will make the playoffs with a first round exit, which is actually worse as it weakens our 2009 draft pick.

Re: My irritations with Carlislie
My biggest complaint is George, why we even re signed the guy is beyond me. He does a little something here and there but not enought to warrant a waste of a roster spot. I would rather see anyone else on our roster than this guy.
