Dirk Nowitzki suspended one game

Dirk Nowitzki has been suspeneded one game for his flagrant foul Friday on Utah's Matt Harpring.
The league announced the suspension early Sunday afternoon. But ESPN.com has learned that the Mavericks were notified Sunday morning, mere hours before tipoff, that Nowitzki would be forced to sit out the club's early afternoon game (12:30 p.m. CT) against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Saturday, the league office began reviewing Nowitzki's flagrant foul/penalty 2 on Harpring, which resulted in Nowitzki's ejection early in the fourth quarter of Dallas' 97-88 loss to the Jazz.
After a similar incident involving Boston's Kevin Garnett and Milwaukee Andrew Bogut in November, resulting in a one-game suspension for Garnett, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson told ESPN.com that league rules make a suspension automatic "when a player swings or punches with a fist or open hand, regardless if it makes contact or not."
With that in mind, the Mavericks were bracing for a suspension, but were hopeful that a ruling would come Saturday as opposed to the morning of a lunchtime game.
Nowitzki was ejected for swinging his arm in response to under-the-basket contact from Harpring, with video replays indicating that although it was a backhanded swipe -- Nowitzki made a closed-fist connection with Harpring's face on his follow-through.
It's the second successive season that Nowitzki has been suspended after an incident in Utah. His rough takedown of Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko last season -- for which Nowitzki was not ejected -- resulted in a one-game suspension.
The one-game suspension for Friday's incident will cost Nowitzki 1/110th of his $18,077,904 salary, which comes to $164,344.58.

Great....
Not so sure about facing the Clippers now, however maybe this means some more time for our younger players? Green, Wright, etc..

This does not surprise me knowing the bias agaainst the Mavs

It's automatic according to the rules, doesn't matter who did it. Dork is averaging 1 SPG in his last two trips to Utah (Suspension per game).

And Utah is averaging 28 FPG along with 96 missed foul calls per game.

Didn't the NBA say they would give players fines for flopping? Have they gone through with that this season?
I really like AK47, but that flop was uncalled for.

Well at least the Clippers are so terrible right now they did'nt need him.
To bad AK47 does not get suspensions for flops he would only play 41 games a year... maybe.

well, no way i would ak call the best flopper, cause that flop was extremely poor and aweful. i am still in shock the refs called a foul on dirk. hell, even i can have my flops more realistic...
