Trade Block: Any Interest?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Jan 4, 2009 3:24 pm

One rival Eastern Conference GM said that Andrea Bargnani, the No. 1 overall pick in 2006, and Anthony Parker are prime candidates to be moved, as they look to add athleticism on the wings. In the meantime, Jermaine O'Neal has been sidelined with yet another knee injury. The Raptors are second in the NBA in losing games in which they've held double-digit leads (seven), with only Indiana (nine) doing it more times

The rumor mill has Sacramento shopping center Brad Miller and Charlotte looking to deal Gerald Wallace, and Toronto boss Bryan Colangelo is making it known he's ready to move anybody except Chris Bosh and Jose Calderon.

The Bobcats have been shopping Adam Morrison since the start of the season but have drawn no interest in the former lottery pick, who is just another one of Michael Jordan's awful front-office decisions (Kwame Brown, you actually have company in this category). His Errness and the 'Cats didn't help matters in October by picking up a $5.2-million rookie-scale extension on Morrison for next season. The reasoning for doing this made little sense. Apparently, the option was taken so Morrison couldn't exercise his no-trade rights this season. So instead of letting him go after this season, the Bobcats likely are on the hook to pay him for another season if they can't make a trade.

I would look into a Bargnani for Diop swap. Use him at center. This would give us a center that can score and opponents would be punished if they left him alone to shoot like they do with our current centers. Also Bargnani's contract is less than Diop's. But it won't help Toronto on the wings. Just a thought.

I'd love to get Parker. He could really help us at the 2 when Terry is out. I don't see a good potential trade though.

Bargnani and Morrison would be fun projects to see if they could be our next Nowitzki (best case), but I would still rather trade for Gerald Wallace than either of them. Brad Miller wouldnt be a bad idea either if we could lose Diop in the process. Im not the biggest Brad Miller fan, but it would be a definate upgrade at center.

Brad Miller or Gerald Walace.

Miller to replace Diop or Wallace at the 3 and Howard at the 2. This team needs something to get to the next level.

Bargnani and Parker for Howard if we are looking into the future.
Gerald Wallace- no, he has an expensive long term contract and is not an improvement over Howard.
The Mavericks would regret trading for Wallace like they are for trading for Dampier.
Brad Miller- Only if Dampier or Diop are included in the deal. Miller only has one more year on his contract and is a decent center, but he's not athletic and is an average rebounder at best. His best assests are his passing ability and shooting range. He is not a low post scorer.

I would look into Bargnani and/or Morrison if we didn't have to give up too much. I think either one would be good young projects for the future. I don't have too much interest in Miller,Parker or Wallace. Damp>Miller, Howard>Wallace and Terry>Parker. I don't see making lateral moves to get aging players. I really do not want to see the Mavs trade for older players (28+) unless they are filler to get some youth on the team.

With Brad Miller considered the most obtainable player on the Kings' roster (he makes $11.3 million this season and will make $12.2 million next season), it would be reasonable to believe that Petrie might try to move Miller and Thomas as a package.

In the trade I proposed earlier in the trade forum, I had a Bass-Stack-Green *and future pick* swap for Parker and Bargnani. Any thoughts?

Toronto will not trade Bargnani to the Mavericks for anything other than Nowitzki.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
